Name: Rainer Haas
Age: 25 (157)
Appearance:
Bio: Rainer was born in Schwerin, Germany to a wealthy farming family. His father was a well respected member of the Church and his mother was the perfect wife. When he was 6, his father left one night to go hunt vampires that had been attacking the town. His father was triumphant and killed all the Vampire’s that had attacked, except for one. That vampire, Madoc, had escaped.
19 years later, Rainer’s mother died of disease and his father became obsessed with hunting vampires. One night, while his father was away in England hunting a quartet of Vampires that had been a plague all across the world, Rainer was at the cemetery in which his mother her buried. He was out there reminiscing about the past when he felt an icy presence behind him. He turned and saw a Vampire facing him with his fangs bared. His eyes glowing yellow in the full moonlight. Rainer was taught how to defend himself against vampires, so he always kept a crucifix inside of his jacket pocket. He pulled out the cross in defense but the Vampire was already at his neck.
The warmth of his blood slowly leaving his body, the sudden chill breaking against him, feeling his energy slowly leaving his body. It was what true horror felt like. The vampire grabbed a small knife from his belt and slit his wrist, forcing his victim to drink of his own blood, as was necessary to sire a human.
Exactly one day later, Rainer found himself awakening in a compact space with a soft lining. A coffin. He hit the top of the coffin with all his strength, breaking through the first layer of his prison. He then had dirt pour over his face and into his lungs. That’s when he realized, he wasn’t breathing. He didn’t feel the need to breathe. It was a moment of revelation. He was dead, but living. Icy cold, but not a shiver went down his spine. He continued to dig up through the dirt and mud until he could feel the warm wind of the summer night on his finger tips. He continued up until he was out of the ground and in the presence of his Sire.
“Why me? Why did you change me?”
“Let’s call it revenge.” the Vampire said with an evil grin.
“I’m hungry.”
“I figured you would be. That’s why I brought him.” He said as he pointed to a man laying on the ground with his arms and legs bound and gag in his mouth. Rainer moved over to the man, intoxicated by the smell of fear.Once he had grabbed his head he saw the face of his father. He removed the cloth from his mouth to hear his screams as he fed for the first time. The blood was delicious. Warm and sweet to the taste. As the man went limp, the older Vampire laughed as he watched his protege feed. When Rainer was done he stood up and looked at his new father.
“Won’t you tell me your name, so I can thank you for this meal?”
“Call me Madoc. Now let’s leave before some villagers get here.”
“Alright Madoc, why my father?”
“I told you, this was revenge.”
After that night, Rainer and Madoc began sweeping terror over all of Europe. They found themselves in London during the turn of the century. With the festivities happening all over the city, Rainer was sure that other Vampires would make an appearance. Which he was correct. Hundreds of vampires were present, each waiting for that one drunk to wander into the alley, that one woman they could Sire, the one child to stray from their mother.
But all was not as it seemed, a group of supernaturally gifted women with the power to contact the spirit realm had been preparing for this night. Every 10,000 years, the portal to the realm of souls weakens, and entrance can be granted much easier. These women had felt the weakening of the portal and had decided to use this night to restore the soul to every vampire within the city as a way to defend themselves. At the stroke of midnight the women cast the spell. Each Vampire in the city cried out in pain as the memories of everything they had ever done lashed at them with with guilt finally hitting them. Rainer and Madoc split and headed their own directions.
He went to America and set up home in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. Every waking moment was an old memory making sure he was in pain. Mental anguish started to take over and he couldn’t take the pain. He felt nothing but guilt for what he had done, but could never bring himself to kill himself. He felt that living with the guilt of what he had done would be atonement enough.
After a century of living in the shadows of Milwaukee, he felt the urge to relocate. He gathered a bag and made his way to Seattle under the cloak of darkness. Since he’s been there he has found himself spending more time in the city during the day because of the lack of sun. He has even made a few acquaintances since being there. However, he can never shake the feeling that danger is always close.
Powers/Abilities: Being a vampire, Rainer has all standard vampiric abilities. enhanced strength, speed, and reflexes He has not passed the 200 year mark, meaning that he is noticeably weaker than some older vampires. In his travels across the world he has picked up on many different languages. He speaks fluent Deutsch, French, and English. He also has taught himself Boxing to defend himself.
Name: Conrad “Connie” Harvey
Age: 15
Appearance:
Bio: Connie was born in Seattle yet relocated to London, England at the age of 4. His parents, Jane and Connor, were free spirits who always wanted to live in London. After years of planning, they moved to London just for the fun of it. The two opened a successful coffee shop with the help of Jane’s rather wealthy mother. The three lived happily in London just like a normal family, well any normal family that lives on top of a Coffee shop. They would occasionally get mocked for being Americans, but that was the only real trouble they had ever had.
When Connie was 13, his father was finally being able to live his dream and got a front row ticket to a Coldplay concert. Connie’s mother wasn’t a fan so she was happy to know that she wouldn’t have to go. She and Connie stayed home and watched after the Coffee shop while his dad was out having the time of his life. However, little did Connor Harvey know that it was the last good memory he would have.
Connor had always thought that it was smart to be the last one out of a concert or sporting event so he wouldn’t be caught in the middle of the traffic jam to get out of the arena. He waited in his seat until he was asked to leave by the staff. When he was walking back to his car, which was the only vehicle in the entire lot, he was pounced upon. Connor fell hard and before he could get back on his feet and see his attacker, he felt what was like sharp, cold knives bear into his neck. The pain he felt didn’t last long and he soon was drained completely by his vampiric attacker.
When the news of Connor’s death had reached Jane, she fell into a deep depression. She couldn’t take care of Connie and couldn’t take care of the shop. Connie was sad and rather depressed himself. He and his mother would get into arguments that would occasionally get physical. Children’s Social Care came and took Connie away from his mother. He was sent to live with his wealthy grandmother back in Seattle. He was happy to leave his mother, but being torn away from London seemed like it was forcing him to say goodbye to his father. Something he wasn’t ready to do.
6 months have passed since his grandmother gained legal guardian status. Connie enjoys his time with his Gran. She takes great care of her grandson and loves him dearly. She tells him stories of her great grandmother. “A woman with the power to give life.”. She always tells him that he is special kid and will one day do great things. He just treats it as typical grandparent talk, she knows that is a destiny that he must fulfil.
(Cue final, jumbled, paragraph of information that I couldn’t find a place to put in the bio!)
Connie goes to one of the best private schools in Seattle and has a part time job at the nearest Starbucks. Recently he has been talking to a regular at the shop that says he has just moved from Milwaukee. Connie is self proclaimed “The gayest straight guy you will ever meet”. He was never told the details of his fathers murder. He has yet to realize that he has the powers he does.
Powers/Abilities: Connie is a descendant of one of the women that cast the spell that gave the vampire’s their souls back. The gene that grants this ability skips a generation --meaning his grandmother has the similar abilities-- he has the power to “read” souls. He can tell if somebody is depressed or happy based on his/her soul. He just always guessed he could get a feel for people easier than most others. The power will expand to the point where he can develop a sense for each person’s soul.
