It's that time or year again, the time where emotions run high, and everyone seems to either be extatic or completely withdrawn. Whatever the feeling is it's probably because Bentley High's Prom is coming up fast. This year however, there's a twist that could make someone's life change! Throughout the whole dance there will be a camera crew, filming all of the students attending. It will be the first episode of the new show "Teen Life" They want everyone to act like they normally would so they can show world how we really act as students. The TV show really wanted to start off with our Prom so don't let them down! Plus, the homecoming King and Queen will each be given a huge cash prize! Our 11th grade Prince and Princess, will be given a prize as well! So don't be left out, we want everyone to come and make this the best Prom evere!
Love, Your Cheerleaders
Ok so I hope that is clear for all of you if not, I would be happy to answer any questions in the Ot section. Bentley High school is located in Sacremento California. (I'm trying to make it a place that most people know of. Hopefully this is one of them.) Also if anyone has a problem with this location, just let me know, and we can make a change, because I don't really have a preference as to where the school is, I just thought it might help give you an idea.
So, here are some rules: 1. As always try not to have one liners 2. We will have an even number of guys and girls so don't make like 3 girls for each person. 3. I don't want to put a cap on amount of characters, but don't make more than you can handls 4. Have in mind who you want to ask, and try not to wait to long or they might get taken. 5. Make sure your character has an important reason for wanting to go to prom.
So we will have a vote deciding who wins King and Queen, and Prince and Princess, but that won't be until we have all of the characters, and you get to know them better.

Miyuki:Miyuki headed out of the cafeteria with her lunch in a 'to-go' box. It was a lovely sunny day, perfect for eating on the grass in the quad. As she reached the quad, something caught her eye. A boy, sitting by himself, leaned against one of the shade trees, looking into the distance. An agonized look swept across his face as a girl walked past, telling a friend what an annoying little pain in the butt her tag-a-long little sister was, and how she wished she'd just die, earning a laugh from her friend. The girls flitted on by, unseeing. The boy's face quickly returned to a neutral expression, but Miyuki was sure the pain she'd glimpsed was from a deep, deep wound. The boy was vaguely familiar. As she searched her memories, she got half-recalled glimpses of him slipping quietly to the back of a couple of her classes, or at his locker, or eating his lunch, always alone and friendless. Well. That's gonna change, she thought, heading his way. Her light khaki sundress fluttered softly in the breeze. "Excuse me. Do you mind if I sit here?" OT: In case it isn't already obvious, she's talking to Tanner. Narayan:Carrying his lunch in a metal ironworker's lunchbox Jacob gave him, Narayan entered the quad. He wore a Nehru style shirt and cotton pants that got him the occasional odd look, but mostly the other students just bustled about in that hurry-hurry way Americans seemed to have. "Nice necklace, chief," a broad-shouldered boy in a letter jacket said, snickering with his friends as they passed. Narayan acknowledged the comment with a short bow of his head, as if it had been a genuine compliment rather than sarcasm. Some of the grownups at home had tried to suggest that he leave his traditional Tibetan jewelry at home and wear regular American clothes instead of the often homemade Asian styles most of the Cotu preferred, but he had politely refused. The Americans are just like the Han. They want everyone to be just like them, he thought, catching himself in a moment of anger, which he dispersed with a moment of meditative mindfulness. I came to their country, he reminded himself. They did not come to mine... He had to focus again, to release thoughts of the Han Chinese soldiers stripping him away from his family when he was a boy. Instead, he deliberately shifted his thoughts to Americans who had been kind to him. The Cotu group especially, but others as well. One of the most remarkable things about America was the girls. Especially here at school where there were so many of them in one place, and all close to his age. They seemed so boisterous, as if they were at a festival, wearing dresses or shirts and close-fitting jeans that unabashedly showcased the loveliness of their form. And somehow, he was supposed to persuade one of them to go to this 'Prom' with him. How? They will want wealthy American boys with expensive cars. It's not as if I can talk Jacob or someone into initiating an exchange of gifts with her family! Once the subject of girls and the Prom had come up, the adults had all tried to offer reassurances and a few pointers. Mainly, to just get to know some girls, take time, not to try to rush things. Even that looked like a daunting task though. If the girls weren't traveling in groups with other girls, or even more hopeless, already coupled off with boyfriends, they were twiddling their thumbs on electronic gadgets, captivated by whatever was going on on the tiny little screens. If only there was a girl my age with the Cotu, he thought. There were a few other kids, but none more than half his age. I'll just have to watch how the other boys do it, he thought. He spotted a shady place next to a hedge, with enough distance from the nearest group of chatting Americans that he could eat his lunch, and perhaps meditate a little before the next bell rang. OT: Thankfully that's impossible, since the girls are people too.

Tanner looked up when two girls walked by. He felt sick, when one of the girls talked about wishing her sister was dead. He wanted to say something, but didn't want to draw too much attention to himself. He had thought moving schools would be a fresh new start, and things would be different, but they weren't. He was stuck in the same routine, there wasn't all of the gossip, but he still had reminders every day of his life. He sunk lower on the tree, and put his face in his hands. Why couldn't it all just end. He sighed and picked up his sandwich. He had just taken a bite when he was suprised to see a girl walk up to him and as if she could join him. He looked up to see a girl that was in a few of his classes, her name was Miyuki he thought. He swallowed the bite of sandwich and nodded wearily. "If you really want to." Rosie Rosie looked around the cafeteria trying to find her friends. She had arrived at the lunch room before all of them. She shrugged and placed her back pack on the table. She chose a seat and pulled out her lunch. It wasn't much, but it would suffice. She looked around the cafeteria which was beginning to fill up, and noticed a few people in her grade start to walk in. She smiled and waved to Jasmine who she had met in a few of her classes. She wasn't really sure if the girl liked her, or even knew that she was in some of her classes, but it didn't bother her. She just wanted to say hi and wish her a good day.

Miyuki:
"I wouldn't have asked if I didn't," Miyuki said brightly, settling down on the grass. "My name's Miyuki," she said, extending a hand. The boy really seemed to be carrying the weight of the world on his shoulders. Her eyes lit with caring, and it was all she could do not to ask him what was troubling him right then and there. Except that people didn't usually like to tell complete strangers about their deepest pain, and despite his efforts to hide it, she could tell that his was a real doozy. There was a weary resignation in his voice that set off alarm bells in Miyuki's mind. It sounded like the kind of inner defeat that, just maybe, could indicate a desire to Just End It All. What if I don't have all the time in the world to earn his trust and friendship? Her mind scrambled for a solution, then seized on an idea.
"Um...I hope you don't mind if I ask you something weird. Would you like to go with me to Sunshine Gardens Retirement Home with me tomorrow? See, there's people who are basically just being warehoused there until they die. Their kids live far away and send the checks, but no one ever comes to see them. So I go visit them every Saturday. Listen to their stories, play games, bring them little presents and stuff. I was just thinking that maybe some of the men might like to have some guy time, you know, talk about motorcycles or sports or stuff they wouldn't really want to try talking about with a girl. I'll introduce you to everybody. I know me asking you this is kinda out of left field and all, but it means so much to them just to have someone come by."

Tanner Tanner raised and eyebrow and finally looked away from his food and at the girl. He probably looked completely bewildered, and sat their staring. Why would she even want him to go somewhere with her, he was a completely stranger. If only she knew what he had done, she would probably run the opposite direction. However, talking to someone much wiser than him seemed as if it would be helpful. Plus it would be great to help someone for a change. He weighed the good and the bad over and over in his head. Then Tanner realized that he had been staring and shook his head. He didn't even know what drove him to say what he said next, "I don't see why not. Sounds fun." He turned back to his sandwich again his mind going back into the normal routine that it normally did.

Kira
Kira slowly saunted into the lunch room, gloomly tucking her tardy note in her bag. She had been late again, which wasnt her fault. it wasnt her fault she had to walk to school...or that her alarm clock was decepid. She should invest in a new one. Kira slowly grabbed a tray and went through the lunch line, picking a few yummy things. She took her tray to a table in the corner and slid in, her braclets, buckles and zippers clanking about. Her purple converse clashed oddly with the floor.
Camron
Camron sat with a group of friends, his back against a tree, his guitar propped up on his knee as he played. He was randomly making up a song, chords and lyrics and all, and the result was hilarous. The group was cracking up, and Camron himself periodcly stopped playing, doubled up with laughter. None the less, he was good at what he did, even improvising. After a while he stopped, and, smile still on his face, held his guitar out to a friend* in the group.
"You wanna try?" He asked kindly, with a lopsided grin and twinkle in his eye.

Taryn:
Taryn opened her locker, took out her brown-bag lunch, and headed for the quad. The first spot she considered already had a guy sitting there. He had rugged features that looked Native American, except that his clothes seemed more foreign, like from China or India or someplace over there. Whatever, the last thing she wanted to do was go sit alone with some guy. No sooner had she made her decision, than Taryn saw that sweet Japanese girl making the opposite choice. She sat down next to to some morose-looking guy, said something, and stuck out her hand. The guy ignored her hand, until she pulled it back and said something else. He gave her a weird look for the longest time, finally muttered something and went back to his sandwich as if she wasn't there.
Jerk! Taryn thought. She could just see their whole relationship. The Japanese girl would give and give and give and give, hoping for just some little acknowledgment, some little act of caring in return, but he'd just neg her and be all cool and aloof until he got tired of her and tossed her aside like last week's garbage. I wish I could give that git a toe in the hole, she thought, or at least go over and tell her she deserves better. But I have to stay away from her. Taryn cringed inwardly, imagining the Japanese girl befriending her, only to end up on Lorcan's radar.
The sound of improvised music drew Taryn's attention away, and she turned to see some Emo kid picking rapid-fire on a guitar. He was good, and for a moment, she stopped to enjoy the music. Then he handed off the guitar to a friend, inviting them to try. As he turned back, he spotted her watching, and looked her way. Taryn quickly turned away. Just forget all about me, alright? she thought to him. I'm not some wannabe groupie, so don't get your hopes up. All the good solitude spots are taken, she thought, then turned to head to the cafeteria. It was as easy to disappear into a crowd as into an isolated spot.
Entering the cafeteria, she saw Kira slump into a seat by herself, looking depressed. I really ought to stay away from her too. Taryn couldn't decide which would be worse: Lorcan targeting the delicate Japanese girl, or Kira, who would fight back hard enough to get him really mad. But I kinda owe her one... A couple days before, some cheerleader got her Neandertal boyfriend to shove Taryn upside-down into a garbage can, and it was Kira who came along, got her out, helped her get cleaned up and back to class, and ended up getting detention for being late to her own class.
Taryn did a quick check of the cafeteria. No Lorcan. Maybe he's having lunch off-campus, or doing deals or something. She sat down at Kira's table.
"Hello. I wanted t' thank ye for what ye did for me th' other day," she said in her lilting Irish accent. "Are ye alright?"
Miyuki:
The guy gave her a bewildered look. Seconds ticked by in awkward silence. He must think I am a weird girl, she thought, biting her lip as he pondered. Maybe this was a bad idea. What if he goes and it depresses him even more? Finally, he replied.
"I don't see why not. Sounds fun," he said, then turned back to his sandwich. He still hadn't told her his name.
"Well, it can be...but it can be hard, too. Sunshine Gardens can be a very, very sad place. The people there have nothing to live for, and it's...such an institution. But if you stick with it, and get to know someone, and you're the first person who's really cared about them in years, and all of a sudden they do have a reason to live... You'll see this light come into their eyes...it's really wonderful."
A sinking feeling hit as she began to wonder if maybe he would think she was babbling nonsense. Like the blank faces she got from Mother and Father whenever she tried to explain something like this. Faces that could see no profit, no stepping-stone to Success in the things their daughter did. Faces that would then ask how she planned to get into college, start a decent career, or find a young man of quality to marry.
Lorcan:
Lorcan swept into the cafeteria like he owned the place, with a couple of his Operators at his back. He wore a wife-beater shirt under a black leather coat that swept the floor, and strategically ripped black jeans. His eyes found Taryn, sitting with that Kira girl. He remembered Kira's dark eyes flashing as she got in the face of some jock who had just shoved a fat kid into the lockers. She'd be fun to break, he thought. Those eyes, filled with fear, tears dripping from their lower lashes as she pleaded for mercy... Mmmm... Taryn saw him, and paled. He gave her a lopsided smirk.
Then he spotted Jasmine a few tables to the left. He'd kept his distance from her so far, and in truth, she was untouchable. But she's not, he thought, noticing a pretty girl sitting next to her, chatting boisterously, just full of sunshine. He recognized her from the pictures the Boss had sent: Jasmine's cousin Elizabeth. He cruised over toward her. The soles of his leather boots clicked authoritatively on the linoleum floor, their many buckled straps and decorative chains jingling like a gunslinger's spurs.
"Well now," he said, raking his eyes over Elizabeth's body. "Ye're a fine thing, aren't ye?"

Camron Camron happily showed his friend some chordes and helped strum. Everyone was laughing and smiling again. Camron happend to glance around as a figure walked by. It was a girl..what was her name? Camron felt sure hed seen her before. When he looked up, she looked sheepish and quickly looked away. "Oh hello!" He said with a smile, waving at her. "Wanna join us?" But she had already left. Camron frowned slightly. She seemd so sad. "Hey Cam, lunch is almost over. We'd better pack up!" "yah, your right Aaron." Camron was shaken out of his thoughts. "Don't wanna be late!" he said in his usual cheery voice as he gently put his guitar in its case. ----- Kira Kira picked at her food, then straightend her black Evanescence womens style t-shirt. The logo was electric blue. It was framed by her several-lenth black skirt. The skirt was ripped all around the hem, ending in all diffrent lenghts, the shortest at her knees. It was coverd with all sorts of buckles and zippers. Her legs stuck out of the skirt, coverd in striped tights. And of course her purple convers topped the whole thing off. "Hello. I wanted t' thank ye for what ye did for me th' other day," she said in her lilting Irish accent. "Are ye alright?"
Kira looked up into the pretty, familliar face of the Irish girl. "Hello." Kira replied. Did she mean alright at the moment, or alright in general? Well shed been better...but shed been worse too... "Yes, of course." Kira blinked, then "oh, it was nothing." she smiled. Kira seemed momentarily transformed. Her eyes lit up and her little smirk gave her face delightful look as she smiled at Taryn. Kira had zero in on the younger girl from almost the moment she had steped into the school. Well, maybe it was her bully brother Kira had noticed first. As if on que, Taryn turned pale. Kira wonderd why for a moment as she took another bite of food. Then she saw Lorcan out of the corner of her eye. Kira huffed and turned back to Taryn. "really, it was nothing." she said again.

Taryn:
"Yes, of course." Kira blinked, then "oh, it was nothing."
"It was somethin' t' me," Taryn said softly, when she saw a blot of Darkness come through the door. Her blood froze as Lorcan spotted her with Kira and gave her a lopsided smirk. So now Kira was a hostage to her "good" behavior. I should have sat with Miss Amber Prissypants instead! she thought angrily. Her anger melted into a kind of guilty sadness. Amber was mean, but even she didn't deserve the kinds of things Lorcan liked to do to girls.
Then Kira's dark eyes followed Taryn's gaze, and she bristled, giving a huff like a bull giving serious thought to charging.
Oh, no ye don't! Taryn thought worriedly. I've got t' find some way t' get them off each other's radar. I could try to warn her, but what if she just takes it as a challenge? Got too much guts for her own good, she does. But now Lorcan was looming over some other girl. That's her! she thought, noticing the girl next to Lorcan's new target. The girl they'd been sent here to monitor. Taryn had gotten into the files and seen the pictures 'the Boss' had sent. In the back of her mind she started chewing on the problem of finding a way to help Jasmine. Taryn felt a downward pull of helplessness; she couldn't do anything for the girl Lorcan was harassing now except kick herself for the guilty relief at the fact that his mind was off her and Kira.
"Really, it was nothing," Kira said again.
"No, I really owe ye one." It was good to see Kira's smile, but Taryn hadn't forgotten the gloom from before. "There are some kinds o' problems I can make go away," she said, miming the act of typing on a keyboard. "If ye'll tell me what's troublin' ye, maybe I can help."

Tanner Tanner gave a crooked smile as Miyuki seemed to cut off and realize she had been babbling. He wouldn't let anyone see the smile, because he didn't deserve to be happy, but he had to admit, the girl was really nice. For the first time in the conversation Tanner met her eyes, he nodded approvingly, "You know, there's nothing wrong with talking about the things you are passionate about. If you have something that you love so much, you should hang onto it." His head turned toward the school when the bell rang to get to class. He grabbed his bag and stood. Tanner turned to Miyuki and held his hand out to her to help her off the ground. "I think it's great that you can believe in something so...worth believing in." His eyed widened, "I'm being really rude, I'm sitting here talking all about this, and I haven't even told you my name. It's Tanner." Rosie Rosie beamed when Jasmine waved back and a smile tickled the corner of the girls lips. She always loved making people smile. She always believed the more you laughed and smiled, the better your outlook on life would be. She still believed that her father survived because he was so happy with his family, and God couldn't take him just yet. Rosie looked across the cafetoria checking the clock when she caught Lucas looking at her. She turned her head away quickly and blushed bright red. Maybe she had just been kidding herself, a senior wouldn't be looking at her, but Rosie smiled anyway. It was nice thinking that someone would like her. She started to collect her stuff Rosie to head over and talk to Jasmine when she saw Lorcan looking menasingly at her. He was one of the only people Rosie couldn't bring herself to talk to. She always told herself that one day he would realize the world didn't have to be an evil place and he would become approachable. Rosie believed that about everyone. Everyone had some good in the somewhere, maybe she was naive, but she truly believed with a little bit of help, anyone could change. Rosie debated whether to even try and talk to Lorcan right now when the bell saved her from her thoughts. Well, eventually she would talk to him, in the meantime she had choir, her favorite class of the day.
Alex Alex walked out of the cafetoria when the bell rang. He walked with his rather large friends, all from the football team. Everyone seemed to scatter when they walked by, atleast the smart ones did. If they were loser's the better not get into his way. He felt on top, and he would stay that way. As his group left the cafetoria he spotted Kira out of the corner of his eye. She was one of the few who gave his group any trouble, it really bothered him that she would think she could just stand up for people who deserved to be on the bottom. The next thing he knew there was a crash into him, and he felt his temper flare. Whoever had run into him was in for trouble.

Taryn:
Taryn tensed as Kira broke into laughter. It was so beautiful it made her want to bawl. She could feel her skin crawl, just knowing that Lorcan was looking her way, knowing that the worst thing she could do to Kira was be a friend to her in any way that he or anybody else could see.
"Well---thanks." Kira said. "And you've already made it up to me: just by being a---uh---awesome!"
Taryn noted the change of inflection that said Kira had been about to say something else, and she thought she could guess what it would have been. So maybe that meant Kira understood, or would understand. She leaped to her feet as if in a rage, then stepped and turned so she could face Kira with her back toward Lorcan. She brought a hand subtly in front of her where he couldn't see it, and made an exaggerated gesture of crossing her fingers.
"Fine!" she shouted. "Laugh at me just like everybody else!" she said, stomping her foot angrily. The tears brimming in her eyes were real, just not for the reason she was faking. Before Kira could reply, Taryn spun on her heel and ran from the cafeteria. She wanted to just run and keep on running, and when she reached an ocean, jump in and swim. She never got that far. Coming around a corner, she had to skid to a stop to keep from crashing into someone, and even so she bumped into a dark object he was carrying. A guitar case. She glanced up and saw Emo Kid, with his friends coming up behind him.
"Crap."

Kira
Kira jumped up as her friend did. For a second, she was bewildered at the crossed fingers, wondering why Taryn was yelling at her...She stood, gaping, feeling stunned. Why would Taryn do that...Kira looked up to see the answer looking her way from across the cafateria. Lorcan. It hit Kira like a bag of bricks and made her seeth with anger. Taryn was afraid of her brother. He must have seen them...no doubt he wouldnt want her haning out with Kira. Weather it was to save her own skin, or Kira's, she didn't know. The finger crossing made sence now. It was a fake. Kira felt her anger soothed momentarily by relief at that realization. But it didnt stop her from seething with rage. Lorcan would be sorry. And Kira knew just what to cook up. Shed prove him wrong. She'd prove them both wrong. ---- Camron
Camron hoisted his guitar case over his shoulder as he and his friends seperated to head off to their seperate classes. About half of them went with him as they headed to their shared class. As he was passing the caffeteria, a figure bolted out of it. Camron stopped to avoid ramming into her.
"Wah! Sorry, i didn't see you there." he smiled with genuine apology. "I guess i should watch where im going." He grinned sheepishly, but it didn't even cross his mind to blame her. She looked at him, again with that uncertin look, and took another heasitent steap foward... And rammed right into Alex, who had just rounded the corner. Alex looked more than throuly annoyed at this. Camron steaped foward, ready to intervene if nessicary.

Alex Alex looked down to see the small Irish girl. He raised an eyebrow and looked to see someone else she had just run into. Then his green eyes turned back on her and glinted, "Why don't you watch where you're going?! I'm trying to walk here!" The group behind him all nodded their heads as if almost on cue.

Taryn:
"Wah! Sorry, i didn't see you there." he smiled with genuine apology. "I guess i should watch where im going."
"Wh--" Right now Taryn's eyes were all blurry with the tears she was trying to hold back, Emo Kid wasn't making a lot of sense, and all she wanted was to Get Away. She took a step toward the nearest patch of open space and was about to say 'Sorry' and make her escape when a wall of muscle in a letter jacket appeared in her way. She bounced off and staggered back, looking up to see the Neandertal Chieftain glowering at her for having the temerity to be in his way, with more Brutes behind him completely blocking off escape in that direction.
"Why don't you watch where you're going?! I'm trying to walk here!" he snapped.
"Sorry. My fault," she said. The collision had knocked the tears loose to run down her cheeks, but with a blink at least she could see better. Wall to her right, NC and Brutes in front, a glance to the left. Emo Kid was still there, but now his smiling veneer was gone and he was all tensed for action. She took a couple steps back and started to try and squeeze past him. Of the two, better to get hit by Emo Kid. Less musculature, and his good arm was holding the guitar.

"Are you getting audio?" the camera tech said, twiddling a small joystick and using a slider to control zoom. They'd installed the minicams this morning, set around the school so that the show could film unobtrusively. Not always the best camera angles, but they would provide that atmosphere of covertly looking over shoulders to see What's Really Happening. Throw in a few tie-tack spy cams, some handheld footage, and some long telephoto shots and the audience would get to feel like spies. Gritty. Real. Unrehearsed. "There's some serious subtext here," he said, following the action with the minicam.
"The pickups are working fine," the audio tech said.
"We've got King Jock already, find out who these other two are, get their stories."
OT: Is it just me, or does Alex have a Jersey accent? "Ay! Watch where yer goin'! I'm walkin' heah!" XD

Amber
Amber walked hurridly down the hallway, not once losing her dignity. She owned the halls, literally. She had, in one way or another, bought the respect and fear of those below her. Which was basically everyone. As if being the captain of the cheerleading squad and dating the starting Quarterback on the football team hadn't already cemented her high position in this anarchy referred to as High School.
