RedwingJake slammed his fists against the table, admitting defeat after a solid seven hours of scanning and re-scanning security tapes, endlessly replaying the smallest memories and recollections. He had been sure that something black had said, something about the Cyborg, the location, anything, would give him a lead, something to connect the incident to the kidnapping of his brother. I was so close, He thought to himself. But in the end he couldn't believe it. No, Black or the Ringmaster or whoever was still one step ahead of him playing at his nerves and resolve. Jake was furious, literally shaking with rage, but he quieted himself. That’s what the enemy would want.
He breathed deeply and turned to rest bloodshot eyes on the myriad of computer screens, each presenting a different angle of the ruined laboratory. Each mocking him. Ben had forbidden him to return to the place, claiming that there was evidence of booby traps and toxic gas but Jake suspected otherwise. Ben kept him at Haven because Ben knew that if he Jake go back to the lab he would kill himself searching the rubble, or close to it. At long last he stood swaying slightly on weak legs. He hadn't slept and the mission had taken more out of him than he would have liked to admit but for now he had to put it behind him. Or at least find a way to keep moving forward. There was, in fact, one resource he hadn't tapped yet.
He turned silently towards the door, leaving the countless smoldering buildings behind.
Kitsune Despite the fact that many of the young heroes hadn't even bothered to show up to basic training after the rescue, Haven seemed abuzz with activity and for a while at least Kate was happy for the time away from drill-sergeant like trainers and constant routine. It wasn't that the people at Haven were rude or unfriendly, but they just all seemed so serious. There was constantly something to be done, drills, training exercises, weapons repair, briefing for one mission or another. You couldn't sleep past eight without sirens blaring from somewhere and although now the place seemed somewhat tranquil, usually 'Haven' was anything but.
Kate was sitting at a table on the back 'deck' of the main building, from where she could see Silver City across the lake and spy on the various people bustling in and out of the main hall through thirty foot glass windows behind her. Actually, the hall wasn't a hall at all so much as a lobby. In the center a huge circular desk housed a frantic receptionist and four computer monitors, and around this epicenter the various heroes, doctors, and other specialists seemed to orbit like confused planets until they found their way down one hallway or another. Really there weren’t all that many of them at all, but it was so much more than had been there in the month since Kate arrived that she could almost picture Haven in its heyday before the government started bearing down on those with special talents.
OT: A bit of a weak start but I plan to jump into whatever action yall think up with full force (or stir things up myself)! I also plan to make a page with mini-bios for Falcon, Ben, Thalia, Sting and anyone else who might be important but not tonight. Happy Gaming. ^_^

EmilieAs her mind started to rise from the tranquil depths of sleep's ocean, she began to encounter frightening creatures: terrifying images and memories she could only hope were mere nightmares that would be banished by the light of day. Waking up suddenly became an urgent priority. She needed to find herself still in Bellvue, discover that Gem, the kindest of the orderlies (and therefore, her favorite) and everyone else there was still alive. Like a diver running short on oxygen, her mind frantically swam up, up toward the light of wakefulness.
Emilie broke the surface with a gasp, her eyes snapping open as she sat bolt upright. Unfamiliar surroundings. A hospital-ish room. Gentle pastel colors, cozy decor, and sensuously-curved walls, a complete contrast to the stark, institutional rooms she was used to. But she was in a hospital bed, with an I.V. drip next to her. A feeling of dread swept over her. The jumble of memories started to assemble themselves into a coherent pattern as the sleep-ocean's fog dissipated. The shape emerging from that fog was pure horror: she was a monster. A killer. There were other monsters out there who wanted to wield her power. Before the emotional storm those realizations summoned could hit, Emilie was startled out of her thoughts by another realization:
She was not alone.
She spun to face the human shape in her peripheral vision. Shock, at first, to see a girl her own age. Then, recognition. The Quiet Girl! Emilie thought. The completely-unexpected rescue, by...oddly-dressed teenagers. Memories she had a hard time believing, like phasing through walls with the help of a girl who could do that. A boy, telling her about a place called "Haven." Which was where she had to be now. The Quiet Girl had been there too--the first one of them she'd seen, actually. The Quiet Girl had freed her from Dr. Black's apparatus, exuding profound kindness and gentleness. Emilie's head whirled from side to side, her wild black hair swishing. No guards. No orderlies. No doctors. Just the girl.
"You shouldn't be here! It's too dangerous!" Emilie exclaimed. Then, softer...sadder: "I'm too dangerous. You have to tell whoever's in charge here that I have to be kept isolated, especially from other prisoners.Especially the crazy or dangerous ones!" She couldn't feel It gaining strength from any external sources at the moment, but the sooner the Quiet Girl was a safe distance away, the better.

MonarusThe training room was empty but Tiara could still hear the hustle and bustle of the other heroes. Take this here, you go there, Get me this file. It was madness. She blocked that out though and focused on the targets set up around her. Fourteen of them. She could strike them down with four blasts of lightning. Okay, Deep breath *Kraka-tho-oo-oom! She smiled to herself. "Okay, maybe just three bolts." She replayed the motion in her head. Two arks to her side that gather in the back and spread of lightning to her front. Simple. She waited for the targets to re-set and while they were re-seting she was "changing suits". When the targets were up again Tiara jumped up in the air and twisted in a gracefull turn. All the while bursting mass forces of wind all around her. All targets were nocked down in an instant. Satisfaction overcame her as she left the training room. Thanks Mom. she thought in her sarcastic head. On her way to the shower she saw Jake leave the Computer room. He looked like he just got through a torture session. As she walked by him she couldn't help but laugh at him. What could she say? She liked seeing people angry.
After she got out of the shower she found her way to the back deck and looked out at the city. It was beautiful in a disgusting, over-populated kind of way. She looked over and saw Kate. Tiara liked the girl well enough, she hadn't done anything to upset Tiara either. She walked over to the younger girl and sat down. "Ugh, its so busy around here! We need a spa. A nice seaweed wrap and a facial sound perfect right now." "I bet I could get a pass to go into the city, you wanna go?" Tiara tried to sound as friendly as possible to the 'new girl'. If she could get another ally, then she would be one step closer to her goal.
OT: Like Marley, I too will post mini-bios of some of Tiaras lackees. Just some level 2 and 3 mutants. Nothing to be scared of. I'll post for gavin later. I nkinda want someone to talk to him and be his guide around Haven but if that doesnt work, please tell me.

SnapdragonIris had just arrived at the sanctuary of Haven. It was a long and complicated Journey from France, she had never been on a airplane before. She was quite scared being in a new place and not knowing anyone. She walked gracefully through the main hall and saw the commotion of people. She was able to understand English and speak it, but she couldn't handle the overload of the noise of the many people running around like wildfire. The commotion instilled a bit of panic. This was suppose to be a safe place for her and all she felt was worried about how to communicate. Being shy she wasn't able to interrupt the commotion and just stood there shaking a bit from her nerves.
OT: I placed Iris in the main hall if Kitsune or someone else wants to jump in and save her that would be fine. If not I'll have her make a commotion to draw attention.

SkySky, dressed in her usuall plain jeans and t-shirt with her long hair pulled back in a ponytail, had just finished changing her patient's IV bag and smoothing a clean sheet over her still sleeping figure. Emilie's various brusies and abrasions from the escape hadn't been bad, and under Sky's hands they were rapidly healing. Though the Haven and it's occupants had been stirred up since the rescue, most had at least attempted to intigrate themselves back into their every day schedual of training. Sky had not left the Emilie's side, or at least the infirmary. But to Sky, that was training.
Sky leand over and looked at the computer Emilie was hooked up too and checked Emilie's condition. Suddenly there was a beeping sound, and a cool, robotic, female voice eminated from the computer, saying, "Patient gaining consiousness." Sky focused her attention on Emilie, and sure enough Emilie's eyes were fluttering, and she began to stir. Her head tilted over to face Sky. Suddenly Emilie's eyes snapped open and she bolted upright. Sky's immidate reaction was to reach out a hand to steady Emilie, but Emilie looked so horrified that Sky put her hands up in a gesture of surrender, her meaning clear: I mean no harm. But Emilie was distracted by taking in her surroundings. Her eyes glazed slightly, no doubt as she tried to asses everthing had had happend, and was happening to her.
With another sudden movement, Emilie snaped her head over to face Sky once more. "You shouldn't be here! It's too dangerous!" Emilie exclaimed. Then, softer...sadder: "I'm too dangerous. You have to tell whoever's in charge here that I have to be kept isolated, especially from other prisoners. Especially the crazy or dangerous ones!"
Sky frowned slightly. She tugged on the end of her long ponytail, like she does when she is nervous or confused. Emilie thinks she is a prisoner? Sky shook her head, then grabbed a tray from the bedside counter. On the white tray was ladend a bowl of oatmeal filled with brown sugar and cinnoman, one of Sky's spealties. Sky placed the tray of food on Emilie's lap then showed her the containers of cinnoman and brown sugar and mimed pouring the spices into the oatmeal to show Emilie what was in them. Sky then picked up a spoon and took a big scoop of the oatmeal and ate it. It is good, it's not poisioned. Sky placed a new spoon in Emilies hand and guesterd to the food. Eat.
But Emilie still looked worried. Sky gentely took Emilie's wrists in both her hands. Handcuffs, she mimed. Then she pretened to break the bonds, and shook her head vigorously. You're not a prisoner.
OT: What I'm going to do for Sky is have what she is thinking or trying to communicate written in italics. Your character can choose to understand it, or still be confused, or continue to ask questions untill Sky makes what she means clear.

EmilieQuiet Girl frowned and acted nervous for a moment, but she didn't leave. To the contrary, she gave Emilie a bowl of oatmeal and started demonstrating the condiments.
OK, I've got to stay calm so I don't hurt her! Emilie thought, taking slow deep breaths as Quiet Girl continued her demonstration, even taking a bite of the oatmeal herself, apparently to show that it wasn't drugged. Emilie gave a brief, faltering smile at that. If they wanted to drug me, they'd have just put it in the I.V..
Then the girl crossed her wrists and wrapped her fingers around Emilie's wrists. Emilie flinched, surprised by the sudden reach-and-touch, but the girl's expression was one of compassion. If anything, Quiet Girl was like a void for the kinds of emotions Emilie's power fed on. Then Quiet Girl released Emilie's wrists, spreading her hands out with a flourish, shaking her head vigorously. 'You're free'? Or, not free? 'No handcuffs?' 'You're not a prisoner?' Yeah, that's probably it...
"Uh...thank you...but I should be...a prisoner," she said, then wondered if Quiet Girl could understand her. If she was deaf, maybe she could read lips, or maybe not. "I'm too dangerous to just...be set free. Uh...I," she said, tapping her chest. "Dan-ger-ous," she said slowly, hoping to make her lips easy to read. "Monster," she added, making 'scary clawing motions' with her hands. "Raaaaar, mon-ster," she said, making an 'I'm gonna get you' gesture with clawed hands. A tear broke loose and ran down her cheek. "You," she said, pointing at Quiet Girl, "need to run,"--a mime of running with her index and middle fingers--"away"--a sweeping gesture with her other hand, hopefully conveying distance. Her voice cracked, and more tears started to flow.

ImpulseScott strolled into the Great Hall still in his super hero costume. He removed the helmet portion to reveal a giant smile on his face. He had just gotten back from patrolling the streets with Blue Arrow. He had been up all night long, but just getting out there and working felt so good. With all the heroes disheartening and the government cracking down on them, Scott had been benched for a while, but after a fair amount of begging and pleading, he had finally gotten out of the cage that was Haven. Besides, by his counts, he had just upped his speed from about 450 miles per second to 500. Plus he had nabbed some pretty high profile baddies for the police. Yup, Scott was on the top of the world. He had no idea the mission he missed or the fact that there were new heroes afoot.
Without even realizing, Scott's feet had started to walk him to the kitchen. It was then that he saw his friend Redwing. His smile turned into a smirk and Scott called out using his usual nick name for the boy. "Hey Dead Swing! What's up with you? It looks like the cat ate you and then spit you back up as a hairball."
Ooc: Sorry it's not better. I wasn't sure how to introduce him.

Kitsune"Ugh, its so busy around here! We need a spa. A nice seaweed wrap and a facial sound perfect right now."
Kate extinguished the flame in her hand, "Tell me about it! I don't think half the girls here even know what a manicure is."
"I bet I could get a pass to go into the city, you wanna go?"
"Really?" Only now did Kate look up at the girl, Tiara. She'd spoken to Tiara once or twice in passing but hadn't previously gotten the impression that the girl liked her, let alone wanted anything to do with her. Kate had been trying to get a pass for a day trip out of Haven practically since she'd arrived, just a few hours to see Silver City's sights... especially the shopping districts. Ben had prevented it though, saying that she wasn't well trained enough to go out on her own and that for the time being none of the others could be spared to escort her. "I wish I could, but even if you could get a pass I don't think I could." She sighed, "Ben says I have to have an 'chaperone'. Its too dangerous, Kate. You haven't completed enough training, Kate. It doesn't matter that you can shoot fire out your palms you could still get mugged!" She mocked. "I think they just like keeping me locked up."
Suddenly something caught her attention, a new face across the lobby. A petite girl with Auburn hair. "Is she new?"
RedwingThe scents of the kitchen made his mouth water, but Jake would not be deterred form his mission. Emilee had to know something, but even if she didn't her very existence gave him clues about Black, and therefore the ringmaster. According to Ben, the girl was located in the more secure of the infirmities under close observation, hopefully she was awake by now and hopefully Ben would let him ask his questions... if he could even think of what those were. His brain seemed slightly fuzzy, unable or unwilling to pull up all bits of necessary information.
"Hey Dead Swing! What's up with you? It looks like the cat ate you and then spit you back up as a hairball."
"Huh?" Jake looked around until he caught his reflection in a monitor reflecting the day's lunch menu. Scott's description wasn't that far off. "Yea.." He said, running a hand through his hair in a useless attempt to tame it. "... Lets just say its been a long night." For the first time he turned to his friend, scanning his attire. "Wow Scott, I'd almost forgotten what you looked like suited up." He smirked, "Too bad you missed the real action though."

"You have no idea... When I first got here, I couldn't even get to the fridge without being questioned."
Suddenly, Kate looked the other way and motioned towards the lobby. "Is she new?" she asked. "Who cares about her? Look at the Hottie in the Fedora!" Tiara added. "There are hardly any hot boys around here. Well, Scott is an exception. But, thats besides the point. You can go talk to the new girl and I'll go get us passes for tomorrow. Okay?" Tiara left the girl with that and went to go get passes. Maybe a Hostage would work pretty well...

ImpulseScott let out a small laugh when Jake tried to fix his hair and it didn't work. Then his friend said without prompting,"Wow Scott, I'd almost forgotten what you looked like suited up."
Scott did some fake muscle man flexes and said, "Yeah, I look great don't I? You better get used to this look, bro. Because if last night was any indication I might go on patrol a lot more often."
Jake smirked at him and said, "Too bad you missed the real action though."
"Real action?" Scott asked confused suddenly turning serious. "If there was some sort of attack or something we should have been called. We weren't doing anything the police couldn't have taken care of."
Surely, Speed Demon wasn't here? he thought to himself panicking. If he came here looking for me and endangered the school, I don't know what I would do.
He looked right into Jake's eyes. Scott's own eyes asking the question he didn't dare to speak aloud while he was inside the walls of Haven. He never brought up his past because of all the harm it had done when he'd first gotten here, but Jake already knew everything and didn't care. Jake would know, when Scott got this serious what he would be thinking about.

RedwingJake shook his head as his friend's eyes turned deadly serious, "Not an attack, a rescue mission gone sour." He paused for a moment, making sure no one was around who could hear what he was saying. "We got info last night pinpointing the girl Gem was watching before she disapeared. She'd been taken to an abandoned warehouse near the docks and we had reason to suspect it was Black's work... So you know I couldn't sit that out." Jake's eyes flicked up twoards his friend. He had recognized the fear in Scott's eyes and Jake knew that at that point Scott would understand the fury in his. They were united that way, understaning the extent to which ones past could haunt and rule them. "With you and Blue on westside and Sting out dealing with some Scales Ben was strapped for heroes so he let Falcon take a group of rookie's out." He shook his head, "It was supposed to be a lot easier grab, but Black had a Cyborg working with him. Everyone made it out, though some had some pretty severe burns. The girl's in the infirmiry.... which is where I was heading..."
Jake shook his head, even if the mission had overall been a success to him it felt like a failure. "I was so close," He said quietly, "For a moment I actually had the creep in my hands but then the building started crumbling.... No Black, No Ringmaster and no chance of recovering anything from the site. I'm hoping the girl, Emilee, knows something, but Im not sure Ben will even let me talk to her. He think's her ability to control her powers may be correlated with her stress levels, and as he doesn't know exactly what he's dealing with he's not sure if his safeguards will be effective... Its a mess."
KitsuneNot waiting for Tiara to reply, Kate stood up and moved towards the girl. "You seem kinda lost, are you looking for someone?" Kate looked over the girl, who seemed more than a bit nervous. Kate had been a bit overwhelmed when she first came to Haven as well, but it hadn't lasted long. "I'm Kate by the way and this is Tiara".

Shatterstar"Wow... This is THE biggest house I have ever been in. Well, it's not like i've been in many houses before." Gavin said to himself. He decided that now would be the best time to scope out the area. It was overwhelming on how much they had here. It was such a step up from the apartment he lived in. He was walking down the hallway to get to his new room when he saw Ben coming towards him.
"Um, Hello Sir. How are you today?"
"Fine, and you?"
"Shocked. I feel so disoriented here. It's so overwhelming!"
"Aah you get used to it. Be sure to get your abilities evaluated in the training center today. Okay?"
"Yes, Sir." Gavin was planning on walking off until Ben stopped him again.
"Where are you from, Gavin?"
"Oh, uhh... Las Vegas, actually." Of course he lied, he was going to refraiin from telling anyone about his extra-terrestrial heritage.
"Wow, Las Vegas. Do you play any poker?"
"Yes Sir."
"Huh, you'll have to teach some of the other kids around here to play. Just some of us faculty members playing every time can get pretty old."
"Will, do sir." Gavin said politely. After a second of silence, Gavin started walking off. Ben rolled the opposite direction. Finally. Not that Gavin didn't mind talking, but he had been trying to get to his room for a while now. But with Gavins luck, it would still be a while before he got to his room. While, walking towards the corridor to get to his room, a large*, sluggish creature was hovering in the middlee of the path. "Gyaaha!" It wasn't everyday, you saw a floating Seaslug.
OOC: * I didn't know what size Seeker is so I just used large. I hope that works.
MonarusNext thing Tiara knew, Kate had dragged her up to meet new girl.
"I'm Kate by the way and this is Tiara".
"Yeah, Hi." Tiara said grumpily. She didn't intend to come off as rude, but she needed to go get passes. It was more important than just going to get manicures and some light patrol work. "So, Kate. I'll go get those passes and you can get acquainted with new girl." She smiled, then walked off. She had to find Ben. But sometimes he could just dissapear. Maybe Jake knows where he is. I don't want to spend the next three hours searching for some geezer in a wheelchair.
Tiara knew that jake was either in the briefing room or in the kitchen. She checked the Briefing room to find two of the chief analysts making out. Okay, Eww. Kitchen it is, I guess. She made her way there and could hear his voice. But not just his. Scotts too. Just go in there and ask. She made her way in there and without considering being polite, asked straight out. "Jake have you seen Ben around anywhere?" It was then that she actually looked at Jake. "You know, there is this thing called sleeping. You should try it sometime. I'd also look into showers, you know the thing that cleans you off?" She said in almost-disgust. He looked like he hadn't slept in days. He also acquired a small stench. "Nevermind that. Where's Ben?"

SnapdragonIris was wondering how to gain the attention of the people in the hub and she attempted to gain attention in a voice so soft few people could hear it. She held a gesture of her hand up and said "Excuse me but?" The people in the room just walked by barely noticing her. Her attempts had failed. Before long she heard a voice from behind her.
"You seem kinda lost, are you looking for someone?" There were two young girls standing before her and her nerves calmed a little. "I'm Kate by the way and this is Tiara" The other girl seemed to mumble a hello before leaving and she was left with Kate.
"Oh? Yes, I am Iris. I came to this place to be safe. Is this Haven? Haven is the place for people similar to me." she said softly in her strong French accent. Iris rubbed the ground with her right foot awaiting response. She had come this far and thought she found her way out. She continued unsure if she should speak everything that came to mind. If this wasn't a safe place she was risking everything, but she had nowhere else to go. She continued "You know the people they do special things, the special people. We come here to be safe......Safe away from those afraid?"

Sky"Uh...thank you...but I should be...a prisoner," Emilie said. Sky cocked her head in a confused-but-concerned kind of way. Emilie continued talking, slower this time, and more anunciating, like she was talking to a 2 year old. "I'm too dangerous to just...be set free. Uh...I," she said, tapping her chest. "Dan-ger-ous," she said slowly. Sky's head cocked further to the side, but this time her eyebrows were raised skepticly. Why is she talking to me like that?
"Monster," Emilie added, making 'scary clawing motions' with her hands. "Raaaaar, mon-ster," she said, making an 'I'm gonna get you' gesture with clawed hands. A huge grin broke across Sky's face and she burst out laughing, the only sound she ever seemd to make. The noise was like a chorus of titering birds singing sweetly. Sky shook her head again, her merry grin still in place. She pointed at Emilie, then made a twirling motion around her ear with her first finger. You're silly, Emilie.
A tear broke loose and ran down Emilie's cheek. Sky immideatly sobered up, afraid she had hurt the other girl's feelings. "You," Emilie said, pointing at Sky, "need to run,"--Emilie mimed running with her index and middle fingers--"away"--Emilie made a sweeping gesture toward the door with her other hand. Her voice cracked, and more tears started to flow. Though still worried she had hurt Emilie's feelings, Sky was going to make it clear that she wasn't leaving Emilie. Sky shook her head vigoriously in answer to Emilie's suggestion to leave. She held onto the seat of her chair firmly. I'm not leaving now.
A few tear filled miniutes passed, then Sky gently set kleenex box on Emilie's lap. Sky handed Emilie a tissue, then shrugged her shoulders in sympathy and looked at Emilie in an expectant manner. Why are you crying?

ImpulseScott let out a rather large sigh of relief when he discovered that nothing had happened here, but he realized how Jake felt about this mission. He knew the vague details of Redwing's hunt for The Ringmaster, and he sympathized with his friend because his mother was a safer, but similar situation. He wanted to help Jake as much as possible, but Jake beating himself up like this wasn't going to do any good.
"Look Jake," said Scott in a comforting tone. "I know you didn't get the information you needed, but you got everyone out in working order. BA* always says that any mission you walk away from is a successful one. We'll go down and talk to the girl, but you should probably shower and clean yourself up first and I need to change into street clothes. Her power is stress related, and your ugly mug is stressful enough to look at when you're all clean. With you in this state, it's down right disturbing." His smirk came back with that last teasing sentence.
Then Scott heard a familiar condescending voice call out, "Jake have you seen Ben around anywhere? You know, there is this thing called sleeping. You should try it sometime. I'd also look into showers, you know the thing that cleans you off? Nevermind that. Where's Ben?"
Rolling his eyes, Scott spoke up for his friend saying, "There's such a thing as tact, Tiara, you know when you're trying to make people actually happy when they see you. You should try it sometime." Sometimes Scott couldn't believe that Ben kept this girl around. She had such a bad attitude, he didn't understand how anyone could consider her a hero.

FrostbiteLevi woke up with the sun shining in his eyes. He wiped the sleep from his eyes an looked around his room. What time was it? He reached for the clock, and was surprised to see that it was already the afternoon. The mission yesterday had completely wiped him out, he was surprised they all made it out ok. Levi sighed and pushed himself of of the bed. He looked in the mirror and tried to semi tame his hair. He grabbed jeans a t-shirt and headed out of his room. When Levi made it to the main building he headed inside realizing how hungry he was. He couldn't remember when he ate last. Levi made his way to the kitchen and asked for a sandwich, quick and easy. As he sat and ate he tried to decide what to do with the rest of his day. He was ready for anything, seeing as he had slept for a really long time. Levi needed to talk to somebody, he was certain that he had missed something while he was asleep. He hoped the girl that they had rescued was doing well, he wanted to visit her, but wast sure if they would let him, or even if that would be best for her. He didn't want to over when the poor girl, after everything she had been through. He could never imagine living like he had been, and even worse thinking that, that life is what she deserved. As he finished up his sandwich he decided that he wouldn't go visit her just yet, he was sure she was in very good hands, and that she didn't want some strange guy barging and asking how she was doing. He sighed and looked around the room seeing how many of the teens were just walking around Haven like nothing happened. He wondered how many of them actually knew what had occurred.
As he finished his sandwich an got up to throw his trash away he overheard Scott and Tiara's conversation. He shook his head and looked over slightly, obviously Tiara doesn't know what happened, either that or she was just being Tiara. Either one she should know better than to talk to people like that, she always acted like she was entitled to something. He shrugged it off and headed to the main hall, where flopped onto a bench by one of the windows. Nothing was really happening, not even a single baseball game.
SpektraFelicity scribbled away on her blueprints. She was trying to take her mind off of the experience last night. The look she had seen in that poor girls eyes, the insanity that would probably follow each I then for their entire lives. Felicity wanted all of it to go away, but so far none of it seemed to. She had been sitting undisturbed for awhile, thank goodness, in the kitchen. He had a half drunken soda sitting on the table next to her paper. She wasn't sure if anything she had written down was even coherent, but it helped calm her nerves. She was designing a new gadget to carry with her, that could somehow help her to transfer her invisibility to others, so far are had made absolutely no progress. She continued to bring herself right back to the problems she had in the beginning. To everyone watching she was sure she looked kinda crazy, with her hair pulled back, but sticking out in random directions, her glasses sliding down we nose, and her hand vigorously writing with the pencil. Her skin reddened a little at te thought of what people might be saying about her. She attempted to straighten her hair, but only managed to make it worse. Finally she looked up from her workin glancin around to see if anyone was looking her way.
OT: Sorry its kinda short, and a little...meh...I was just trying to get something started.

EmilieThe last thing Emilie expected when she tried to tell Quiet Girl she was dangerous was for her to beam sweetly and let out a peal of joyous laughter. Then Quiet Girl pointed at her and twirled her finger beside her head, and Emilie felt a stab of pain and shame. Is that what you're here for then? To laugh at me? Do you have any idea how suicidal that is? Emilie thought. A vase of flowers rattled on a table, sliding a couple inches from its place. OK, I've got to calm down, she thought, turning her attention to the oatmeal to eat a few bites while she took deep breaths and tears ran down her cheeks. Then Quiet Girl got a box of tissues and put it on Emilie's lap, offering her one with a curious, expectant look. Emilie wiped her face and took a couple more so she could blow her nose. When she was finished, she turned back to Quiet Girl to have another go at explaining.
"You're..." she started, pointing at the girl, then drawing a blank on what sign to use for you next word. "You're right," she said, pointing at Quiet Girl then nodding. "I," a tap on her chest, "am insane." She twirled her finger beside her head as more tears started to flow. "Dangerous." Clawing at the air. "Dangerous to you." Clawing, then two fingers held up, then a shaking finger pointed at Quiet Girl. "I've lived in an asylum since I was a little girl and I've never gotten any better," she sputtered, forgetting to do the hand signs. "Sorry. I,"--a tap of her chest, a shake of her head, then a mime of hand motions in imitation of a sign language translator she'd seen on TV once, "don't know sign language." Giving up on the charades, she faced Quiet Girl directly in hopes of making lip-reading easier. "I hope you can read my lips OK. I have this--this thing that...that kills people who are near me. Kills them. Dead. Do you understand me?"
SeekerSeeker wove hir way through the structure the humans called 'Haven,' at times slithering through the air in a spiral pattern, occasionally undulating in and out of three-dimensional space like a sea serpent weaving its way between water and air. Zie could sense a person nearby--like a human, but with some internal structures that differed significantly. Seeker slipped into threespace in a corridor the person was headed toward, so that the person could find hir. In hir dealings with humans so far, Seeker had learned that, because their sense-modalities were confined to threespace, emerging near one often startled them.
"Gyaaha!" the person exclaimed when zie came around the corner. In external appearance, the person resembled very closely a 'male'-polarity human. Unfortunately, Seeker was not able to conclusively assign any semiotic layers to human polarity-words beyond the sonic vibrations and the forms of the 'letters' humans used when inscribing them. The concepts involved were too alien, and the humans themselves seemed to behave as if in disagreement about 'gender' (their word for their polarity-nature) and what the polarity-terms meant or ought to mean. The human-like creature's utterance did not translate directly like a human 'word,' but semiotically, the rising volume and tone, and the jolting gesturespeak indicated fear or surprise.
Color-patterns swirled across Seeker's body while zie retracted hir tendrils until they formed a blur around hir, like a fuzzy sweater. Seeker began the work of trying to compress hir semiotics into the thin semantic pipe of human speech, vibrating the tips of hir tendrils to produce the sounds.
"Expression of non-violence and intention of harmlessness. Apologies, regret-expression for apparent fear-causing," a soft, gentle voice spoke in a tone roughly in the middle of the high-low range of humans zie had encountered thus far. This iteration you may semiotically identify as 'Seeker.'
OOC: Seeker's body is roughly the size of a large dog, like a Labrador, though hir apparent size does seem to change a bit within limits.

SkySky glanced to her left as a vase of flowers wobbled on the bedside table. Emilie took a deep breath, then took a few bites of food, tears still streaming down her face.
"You're..." Emilie started, pointing at Sky, "You're right," she said, nodding. "I," a tap on her chest, "am insane." She twirled her finger beside her head as more tears started to flow. "Dangerous." Clawing at the air. "Dangerous to you." Clawing, then two fingers held up, then a shaking finger pointed at Sky. "I've lived in an asylum since I was a little girl and I've never gotten any better," she sputtered, "Sorry. I,"--a tap of her chest, a shake of her head, then a mime of hand motions in imitation of sign language,"don't know sign language." Emilie faced Sky. "I hope you can read my lips OK. I have this--this thing that...that kills people who are near me. Kills them. Dead. Do you understand me?"
Sky slowly nodded, trying to picture everthing that Emilie had said. So she had been a prisoner her whole life in a place where people told her she was dangerous and crazy, and Emilie herself belived it. Well, she must certinly have powers if Dr. Black had her captured and locked down like she was. Sky searched her memory of yesterdays events, and tried to match them with what Emilie was saying.
Sky slowly looked over at the vase of flowers again, then looked back at Emilie with a slightly cocked head, but empathetic eyes. Sky pointed at the vase, then back at Emilie. You did that?

Kitsune"Oh? Yes, I am Iris. I came to this place to be safe. Is this Haven? Haven is the place for people similar to me."
Kate looked at the girl, puzzled a bit by her accent. "Similar to you, how?"
"You know the people they do special things, the special people. We come here to be safe......Safe away from those afraid?"
"Oh! You mean your a hero." Kate smiled. Duh Kate! Who else would she be? "Yea, this is Haven. You'll be safe here. I should probably find Ben or something to check you in, I wonder where he...."
"Good Morning Kitsune," A pleasant voice called out. Kate looked to see Ben wheeling towards them, his blonde hair slightly askew as if he'd been running around all morning, but his soft blue eyes as bright and welcoming as always. "Et bonjour à toi, Snapdragon. Je suis Ben Barker, responsable du programme jeune super-héros ici à Haven. C'est un plaisir de vous avoir avec nous." He smiled again, and Kate found herself admiring the man for his simple ability to put people at ease. "I see you made it through security without too much struggle, an impressive feat." He removed a tablet from his lap and glanced it over, "We're just about to serve Lunch, but Kate here could take you to your dormitory first to drop off your things you would prefer that." He glanced at Kate, "And if you don't mind of course..."
"I'd love to."
"Excellent! I'll just..." Suddenly someone called out Ben's name, and the man turned. "On second thought, we'll just work on that later." He turned back to Iris, "Pardonnez-moi, je dois aller, mais si vous avez besoin, n'hésitez pas à me poser ou quelqu'un d'autre." He then headed twoards the other group, which Kate saw now contained Scott, Jake and Tiara.
Kate laughed after he was out of earshot, "Ben can't resist a grandiose welcome." The girl still looked slightly overwhelmed, "So how did you find out about Haven?" She said lightley, attempting to break the ice.
OT: Alright so for you actual french speakers in this game your gonna have to forgive my google translate but it should read roughly: "And good morning to you, Snapdragon. I am Ben Barker, head of the young superheroes program here at Haven. It's a pleasure to have you here with us." and then, "Forgive me, I must go but if you need anything don't hesitate to ask me or anyone else."
Jake"Look Jake," His friend said, suddenly comforting. "I know you didn't get the information you needed, but you got everyone out in working order. BA* always says that any mission you walk away from is a successful one." Jake nodded, it was good advice but at the same time it made him cringe a little. Not that Impulse was out of line at all, but that just that he'd let himself lose his head long enough to warrent such advice int he first place. "We'll go down and talk to the girl, but you should probably shower and clean yourself up first and I need to change into street clothes. Her power is stress related, and your ugly mug is stressful enough to look at when you're all clean. With you in this state, it's down right disturbing." His smirk returned, and Jake rolled his eyes.
"You're probably right, I guess I just..."
"Jake have you seen Ben around anywhere? You know, there is this thing called sleeping. You should try it sometime. I'd also look into showers, you know the thing that cleans you off? Nevermind that. Where's Ben?"
Rolling his eyes, Scott spoke up for his friend saying, "There's such a thing as tact, Tiara, you know when you're trying to make people actually happy when they see you. You should try it sometime."
"Alright, alright, calm down." Jake said, looking at both firmly. In truth, Jake didn't really even like Tiara but he had been at least trying to make her feel welcome since she had arrived, a task made harder by the fact that her and Scott couldn't stand each-other. "He was in the infirmary earlier but I think he might be..." He looked around and saw the man chatting to Kate and a girl he didn't recognize. "Hey Ben!" He called out, "You got a minute?" The man nodded and turned back to the girls briefly before wheeling over.
Ben raised an eyebrow as he scanned over Jake, "Something wrong Jake?"
"Everything's fine, Tiara had a question." He wanted to ask Ben about Emilee but somehow he didn't feel comfortable discussing the girl with Tiara watching. Letting Scott in on the mission was one thing, he trusted Scott, but Tiara... "I'm gonna run back to the dormitories, I'll see you later Scott, Ben... Tiara." He turned away before any of them got the chance to reply, and made a beeline for the mens dormitories until another familiar face caught his eye.
"Hey Levi," He said as he approached the boy. "Just wanted to thank you for your help on the mission last night, I don't think we would have been able to calm Emilee without you."
OT: Granny's intro post is coming... ^_^

FrostbiteLevi turned from the window and stood when he saw Jake. He smiled, "Hey Jake!" the poor guy looked like he hadn't slept at all since the mission, which knowing Jake he hadn't. Levi shrugged at Jake's comment. "It wasn't really anything. I was just doing my job, nothing too big!" he chuckled at the last statement, in truth the mission was huge, so much happened. "Have you been down to see Emillie?" His smile faded, "I hope Sky's doing ok with her, the poor girl wa in complete shock when we got her out. That place must have been awful for her."
SpektraFelicity looked around the kitchen, and spotted Tiara. She cringed and gathered her things quickly. She didn't really want to have a run in with the girl, even with Ben there Felicity was sure that Tiara would leap at the chance to say something rude. She quickly shoved her papers back into her folder and hugged them to her chest. If she kept her head low, maybe she could sneak out without any chance for anyone to say anything.

EmilieQuiet Girl looked at her with a caring expression, nodding slowly. Her head was cocked, and her eyes thoughtful, so it seemed like she understood--but she didn't seem to be in any hurry to leave. Why. Won't. Anyone. Ever. BELIEVE me?! Emilie thought, struggling to contain her fear and frustration.
[flashback]
"One of the orderlies who brought you here said you were worried about the safety of the other inmates. Do you want to hurt them?" Dr. Jameson asked.
"No," Emilie replied softly, her eyes looking down at the rubberized floor of her padded cell. "I never wanted to hurt anyone."
"Have you ever heard the term 'akrasia,' Emilie? It refers to a normal human tendency to act contrary to our stated intentions and judgments. The only way we can begin to have control over our unconscious intentions and judgments is to uncover them and acknowledge them as our own. Can you think of any reason you might want to hurt other people?" Emilie gave the woman a furtive glance. It was obvious Dr. Jameson thought she knew already, and was just trying to get her to "admit it to herself."
"You're probably thinking that hurting people makes me feel powerful...or something. Because I've never had any power or freedom to do anything for myself...so I like to hurt people but I'm too scared to admit it or something like that?" A sudden burst of desperation gave her the ability to meet the psychiatrist's eyes. "I wish I was helpless! I wish I couldn't hurt anybody, Ireally wish!" Tears started welling in her eyes. "What if what's wrong with me is worse than insanity?"
“Emilie, that sounds like a very plausible explanation for your attacks, but I can tell you don’t believe it. Could you please explain—“
“Why won’t you just listen to me?!” Emilie cried. “I’ve hurt people from inside locked rooms before! I don’tknow how! I don’t know how to stop it! I can feel it coming in my nightmares, and I can feel it coming now, stronger than it’s ever been before!” Emilie took a deep, shuddering breath, struggling to calm herself, to somehow make It go away. “Please, you have to get me out of here, put me in solitary confinement somewhere there’s nobody else around!” she said, tears breaking free to trickle down her cheeks.
“Do you feel you’re about to start hurting people now?” Choking back sobs, Emilie nodded. In some inexplicable way, she could feel It drawing power from the other inmates. Here, a man who believed that eating the hearts of teenage girls would make him immortal. There, a woman who had drowned her six children, singing “Amazing Grace” as she held each one to the bottom of the bathtub, because she was convinced the voice telling her to do so was the voice of God. Over there, a man who fought parasitic, body-snatching space aliens by spraying gasoline on the people they "possessed" and setting them on fire.
“Do you feel that you are the most dangerous patient here?” By reflex, Emilie tried to bury her face in her hands, but her arms were held fast by her straightjacket. Tears streaming down her face, she nodded again.
“Do you think there could be a part of you that likes being the most fearsome and powerful person in Bellvue Hospital’s Maximum Security Level?” Emilie looked up at Dr. Jameson, eyes wide with mounting terror.
“Run,” she hissed. Though Emilie could hardly do much harm trussed up in her straightjacket and ankle manacles, the two muscular orderlies guarding Dr. Jameson tensed for action.
“Do you want me to be afraid of you, Emilie?”
“No! I want you to RUUUUUUN! GET OUT OF HERE! AS FAST AS YOU CAN!” Dr. Jameson gave her a calming smile.
“Emilie—“
The psychiatrist’s eyes suddenly went wide with shock and pain. She let out a gurgling scream as blood gushed and splattered out of her mouth. After a moment of incomprehension, the orderlies reached for their tasers. Three deep gashes tore through the throat of the first. Before the second could level his taser, he started to convulse as his blood vessels began to burst with little sprays of red liquid fireworks. Emilie’s screams of terror joined her victims’ agonized cries.
[/flashback]
Emilie shuddered. It was all to easy to imagine the same thing happening to Quiet Girl and all her friends. "Yeah," she said, breathing slowly and deeply, fighting for calm. "I know it doesn't look like much," she said gesturing at the flowers, "and why believe the crazy person, right? But when it gets loose, it can cut people and break them and tear their bodies apart from the inside. It wasn't trashing everybody when you guys found me because they had something built into the walls of the lab that turned it off somehow...I think he said it had something to do with magnetic fields, like interfering with the parts of my brain that make it work...the guy that was experimenting on me. So unless this room has the same kind of machine, it's not safe for you to be here."
OOC: I'm assuming that Dr. Black's "anti-superpower field" is something only he has, otherwise they'd be installed all over the place--banks, schools, etc. and superhero vs. supervillain conflicts would be kept suppressed most of the time.

SnapdragonPleased by Kate's response Iris felt more confident that she was in the right place.
"Oh! You mean your a hero. Yea, this is Haven. You'll be safe here. I should probably find Ben or something to check you in, I wonder where he...."
She noticed that Kate was cut off by a man who seemed to be running this place. She could tell from his assertion of authority which followed. "Good Morning Kitsune." and he continued only switching to French: "Et bonjour à toi, Snapdragon. Je suis Ben Barker, responsable du programme jeune super-héros ici à Haven. C'est un plaisir de vous avoir avec nous." seeing someone try their French let Iris feel it was ok to fully try her English.
"Why hello Ben, it is quite.... quite nice to be here. I hope I did not come at any burden." She responded only stumbling a few times on her words.
"I see you made it through security without too much struggle, an impressive feat."
Trying to keep up with the English caused her to have trouble translating a few words and so she answered :"No, I didn't use my feet I went by plane" She said lifting up her plane ticket to prove it to him.
"We're just about to serve Lunch, but Kate here could take you to your dormitory first to drop off your things you would prefer that. And if you don't mind of course..."
"I'd love too" Kate responded

As the man left Iris blew him a kiss goodbye, and turned to Kate continued their conversation "Ben can't resist a grandiose welcome. So how did you find out about Haven?"
Iris knew her answer may appear strange though she felt it best to be honest to this girl whom has done nothing but try to help her. "I am from France. I do things like help people there with my abilities." She continued grabbing a seed from her pouch at her belt. "Things I do to help people, make them happy." she closed her eyes for a second calling the plant to grow into a small velvet purple rose. She handed it to Kate. "But sometimes things I do, they make people scared. Ben he know of me, from France. He saw me fight off a gang." Iris made a deep mainly voice as best she could "he say You are a special girl. Come to Haven if you need a place to go." going back to her normal voice "And now I have no place to go because I am dangerous to my parents." A small tear ran down her face.

SkyEmilie shuddered. "Yeah," she said, breathing slowly and deeply. "I know it doesn't look like much," she said gesturing at the flowers, "and why believe the crazy person, right? But when it gets loose, it can cut people and break them and tear their bodies apart from the inside. So unless this room has the same kind of machine, it's not safe for you to be here."
Sky nodded seriously, making eye contact. Yes, I know, I belive you. She turned to the side and ruffled through the contents of the bedside cabinet. She pulled out a cotton ball and a bottle of rubbing alcohol in one hand and brandished them. With the other hand, she pointed to a small badge depicting a red cross pinned to her shirt, which she usually wore while working in the infirmary. It's ok, I'm a healer. Her smile was confident, like a child who was pleased with her self for an accomplishment.
Emilie's face was still grim. Sky scooted her chair an inch closer and gently laid her hand on Emilie's, the one not occupied by an IV. Sky gave the hand the smallest of squeezes and its owner a small smile of compassionate determination. You need a friend, and I vollenteer. Sky paused for a moment, then made a sweeping guester with her hand, indicating the room, the celing, the floor and what lay beyond. We're all your friends here. We'll help you get control over your power.

And it talks. Of course. the weirdness was not lost in this situation. Not only was a Seaslug talking to him, it was changing colors AND floating. The creature though, seemed friendly and harmless.
"I'm sorry if I scared you, Ugh... Seeker? I'm Gavai-... Gavin, Gavin McBride. Can I ask what you are doing here?" He said in a calmer tone.
OOC: So short. So, so short. I couldn't think of much but As soon as things pick up he'll be more involved.
Monarus/Calypso"There's such a thing as tact, Tiara, you know when you're trying to make people actually happy when they see you. You should try it sometime." Scott said
"Aaaw, Scotts trying to downgrade someone by using something they just said, How sweet." Sarcasm almost dripping from her lips.
"Alright, alright, calm down." Jake said "He was in the infirmary earlier but I think he might be..." "Hey Ben!" He called out, "You got a minute?" The man nodded and turned back to the girls briefly before wheeling over.
Ben raised an eyebrow as he scanned over Jake, "Something wrong Jake?"
"Everything's fine, Tiara had a question." "I'm gonna run back to the dormitories, I'll see you later Scott, Ben... Tiara." Jake said.
When he left Tiara jumped right into it. "I have clearence to get a day out of here and go on patrol, I'm taking that day right now."
"Okay, fine. Just go to the briefing room and get suited up. You'll need to take two other heroes with you. Any idea on who you want them to be?"
"Lauren and Karen, Gemini." she said quickly. Tiara had been waiting months to get clearence to leave Haven for good. Now was finally her chance. The Gemini sisters had been wanting to get out too. They had even tried breaking out once, but to no avail. They were caught by Ben's dogs and put on "Maid" duties.
"The twin sisters? Okay. I'll just be a minute in getting them. Meet them in the axcess tunnel and sign out. Be back by 1:00 tonight. Understood?"
"Yeah, sure." she mumbled as she walked away. She walked to the briefing room and the two analysts were gone. Glad they're gone... She got into her suit like she was told, but also did some other things. She cut all the cameras from the power grid and shorted out all the computers aswell. That should keep them busy. she thought to herself in a superior tone. She then made the entire room look like she was taken out of here by an attack. She even cut herself and put her blood all over one of the desks.
Once she was in the acsess tunnel she caught up with the Gemini sisters. The bursted out in unison, "What took you so long?". Tiara walked straight towards the exit and simply said, "I'm here now and that's all that matters. Now, lets get out of here." She ran out the exit and straight into the city.
Granny, Cory. I'm coming Home.
OOC: I love how everyone hates Tiara. It makes me feel like I created a good, evil character.

Emilie:
Quiet Girl nodded seriously, making eye contact. Emilie met her gaze nervously, fighting a powerful urge to shy away. It was too important to understand what the girl was trying to say. Then she was brandishing a bottle of rubbing alcohol and a cotton ball with one hand, pointing at a red cross badge with the other and smiling confidently. 'I'm a nurse?' Then she gently took Emilie's hand and gave her a look of determination flavored with a small smile. I guess that means she's not leaving any time soon. What do I do? How do I make sure I don't hurt her? The girl's compassionate touch and eye contact stirred a swirl of emotions--fear for her safety, but also...longing. Except for Gem, the people at Bellvue had always treated her with clinical detachment. Quiet Girl may have been a nurse, but she was acting...more like a friend. She looked to be Emilie's own age, and the usual subliminal 'I-am-the-sane-adult, you-are-the-insane-child' barrier was not present. But what if letting her be nice to me only makes things worse? I'll be even more scared of hurting her, and It'll feed on that and hurt her! Okay...okay...what if...instead of worrying about hurting her, I...try to be happy around her? Be her friend, if she'd really want that. Maybe that would starve It.
Now Quiet Girl was making sweeping gestures at the ceiling, the walls, the floor...the place they were in. I'm not sure what that's supposed to mean. Maybe 'you're safe here' or something. Where is 'here,' anyway? Emilie wracked her brain for memories of her rescuers. In addition to Quiet Girl, there was Girl Who Walks Through Walls, a memory Emilie wasn't sure she should believe. Then there was the boy who'd brought her out. She couldn't recall his name, just the top hat, mask, and long coat.
"Um...thank you for trying to help me. The guy who brought me out of Dr. Black's lab said that you guys want to help me control my powers and become 'one of us'--one of you, I mean. Who are you? He called this place 'Haven,' but what is it for? Is it like a secret government agency or something? What do you want me to do with my powers?" Oops. How's she supposed to answer that in charades?
