The only thing about Starlings is how border-line offensive it is. I mean, we have astrology, which is considered bad in some religions, Roman Myth, which is already so weird it's offensive and fortune tellers and 'angels' as villains.
I'm cool with it, as long as we have some sort of balance I guess.

Huh... we've had rps about Zombies, Vampires, and all sorts of "occult" things that was probably not the best of ideas, but I don't think anyone has ever been offended by the ideas......

Nah, the only way astrology could be considered offensive is if you actually believe it's real, but c'mon, 99% of the population know it's pseudoscience. As for Roman mythology, it's MYTHology. There's nothing really offensive about it. At all.
I mean, unless you're one of those nutters who think Harry Potter is offensive.

In my beliefs, I should say, fortune tellers are "dark" and I'm really curious about how the "angels" are the villains.
Roman Mythos is acceptable, I'm just saying that other people not on the forum find it offensive.
I'm cool with playing it and really don't have a problem with the Fortune tellers, Mythology, or the Astrology. The Angels are what kind of "get" me.

I mean, you could (and I'm not saying you have to) re-define some things as having the angels be demons (fallen angels) and have the fortune tellers be like priests or maybe angels themselves. It wouldn't be too hard to just frame it differently.

XD Well see thats one of the reasons I kept shrinking back from the game (the potential offensiveness).... then I decided I didn't care.
And I'm not justifying anything.
The Angels will be Angels in appearance (people with wings) but I suppose it will be up to the game to decide if they are really more Angel or Demon in essence. Thats the fun of it though. As for the fortune teller (my charrie) by relating her to Prof Trelawany from HP I was alluding that prior to her dream she was basically a fraud. The 'fortune tellers' I mentioned are more of a cultural and societal 'quirk' than any sort of priestly cast or anything else. Somewhere in the collective concious of this world, people sense that it life as they know it is coming to a close. Hence the fortune teller obsession. Its a dark and dying world as I interpret it.
*shrugs*
The downside of posting on a christian forum is that you have a greater likihood of offending people. I'm not making any apologies for this game. However, if you feel like it may be at all damaging to you, your faith, or your concious. By all means don't join. XD

I mean heck. In Seekers and Shades I had 'Angels' (well, not so much in the RPG but in my story itself so this may be irrelivant) that took the form of Dragons. (which traditionally represent satan) and no one had too much of an issue. XD

Ashley, we do a lot of "offensive" things in this rp section. I don't think anyone's been spiritually harmed by it.

I figured I should just put a warning label on it and let it be known that I'm not gonna change anything because anyone else sees it as offensive. XD

The demon spin works. I'll just picture demons I guess.
And is Global Warming a problem in this world? If not, I have the perfect idea for my character.

Ok guys. I'm torn between the ideas I had for an RPG I'm planning.
The first will be zombie-esque. It's more of science and political secrets than action and gore. Similar to how in the Resident Evil movies, the scientists live in a giant facility. The facility is like a city. Huge and underwater. After a small zombie outbreak in the twenties in a small town in Maine, the organization (yet to be named) swooped in and closed up the town. The place became like an area 51. Nobody knows exactly what happened there. Not even the relatives of the people that lived there. When a second outbreak happens in more small towns in Maine, the organization goes into a frantic state.
The second being a rip-off of my favorite story-arc in Smallville. The characters will be "Meteor-Infected" (People with powers, but in my version, they would be pretty weak and harshly handicapped) people that escaped from a secret testing facility. They then strike out on their own living with their abilities and the ever looming threat of psychosis. (A very common side affect of the Meteor Infection.) And the possibilities of the testing facility (33.1) coming back to get them.
I'll post more info if you guys want it.

I'd be game ^_^ Especially if it stuck more realistic. Though I also kinda just wanna play a redneck zombie killin bad-a, I also think the scientist angle coule be interesting. I'm more into zombies than the meteor infection plot, but both could be cool depending.

I like the Zombie plot better. Honestly because I'm kinda on a Zombie kick right now. That and I kinda had a Zombie game I was thinking about putting together but I don't have a good enough plot for it to take off. Would you mind me giving you a few notes on what I was thinking?

Okay, thoughts on the fairy tale rp idea.
My thoughts on an over-arching plot would be based on a story that I know there are at least three different versions of: The Twelve Brothers, The Seven Ravens, and The Six Swans.
In each story, a king with an abundance of sons marries a new wife who has a daughter. Through some odd circumstance the sons are sent away (the king fears the queen may favor her daughter and kill his sons, the queen sends them out while the king is on a trip, etc.) and they are turned into some sort of bird. Eventually, the young princess finds out that she has brothers and vows to do whatever she must to save them from their state. This usually involves her remaining silent for a certain amount of time while knitting something for them to wear, during which time she marries a prince who's mother despises her and tries to accuse her of crimes. In the end, the sister is always saved just at the right time by her brothers, who turn back into men, and she is able to tell her husband that his mother was framing her.
Our version would be a little different, since it would involve people from other tales as well. Not to mention having to remain silent for x amount of years is a really boring way to save someone. Here's what I was thinking:
An evil stepmother witch-queen disposes of the sons of her new husband by turning them into ravens, unbeknownst to the King, who believes his sons were killed by members of a rival kingdom (which has since started a war). This secures her daughter's spot as heir. The six ravens remain as her familiars and do her bidding while they're under her spell. Only at night is their true form revealed and she keeps them locked away in a secret location within their castle. The King dies in battle and the war worsens under the Queen's rule. The state of the kingdom declines as well, as she raises taxes and recruits more and more citizens (many against their will).
One night, the princess discovers the Queen's secret, overhearing the details of their curse and vows to save them.
The rp would consist of three storylines that would likely interweave as time goes on: 1) The citizens under the Queen's rule, 2) The citizens of the kingdom they're at war with, 3) the princess's quest to save her brothers. Each character would be based on either a fairy tale/legend character or folkloric creature.
EDIT: Character name doesn't have to be the same name as the one in the fairy tale your character is based on but it should hearken back to the original name or story some how (for instance in an rp I looked at similar to this, they had 'Harry and Greta' instead of 'Hansel and Gretal' and 'Emily Asher' was the name of the Little Match Girl.)
