Sigismund:
Sigismund walked toward the other students wearing his riding clothes, his helmet cradled under his left arm. It was a lovely day, and what better use was there for a lovely day than to go for a ride? Well, once the orientation thing was over anyway. Scanning the group of students, he didn't spot anyone who looked to be his own age.
Before he could complete his search, a bus pulled up, drawing his curiosity. It disgorged...a policeman? And a few other kids. These looked completely different from the other Bayley students. One of them was even black! Unfortunately none of them looked to be his age either. They were lined up against their bus while one of the instructors gave them a speech. Sigismund was a bit too far away to hear it clearly. Strangely, the police officer seemed to be watching the kids suspiciously. Were they troublemakers then? Intriguing!

Nikki
Nikki was sitting at a table with some other girls she knew. They were all gossiping about the new ‘baddi-os’. The new Riding For Hope students got the name by a girl that called them ‘Baddies’ and was asked what her favorite cereal was. Thus, ‘baddi-os’ was born. When one girl, Gigi, said that she heard that two of them were total hotties, that was Nikki’s cue to scope them out. She excused herself from the table bringing her lemonade along with her. She looked over at the main barn where Seraph was already in her stable. Since they had gotten here early, Nikki had already taken Seraph for a ride and had cleaned her off a bit. She continued on to the cottage where the bus holding the new RFH students were. She saw the bus and crouched behind it. Peering over the edge, she could see four teens. One girl with wicked awesome red hair, an African girl, and then two teen guys. One had curly black hair that was definitely hot, but not as much as the other guy. He had a kinda scruff on his face and just looked so cool. She turned her head for a second and that’s when she saw Sigismund. “Sigi!” She ran towards her friend spilling her lemonade at the same time. Sigismund was her closest friend last year when they were both in junior division. Well, he never competed last year but they were still good friends, which she found a little strange at first. A guy hanging out with girls but not wanting a relationship? Weird. But after a while she caught on that he might not be interested in girls. “How have you been?”

Sam
Bradley turned his head toward her, "Sam!" A broad smile broke out across his face, Sam's stomach fluttered. Mercifully though, Brad didn't seem to notice her weirdness. "The trip in was easy as pie, as usual. Took about five minutes." He held out his arm in a welcoming gesture, "Good to see you! How was your trip here? Your summer?"
Sam laughed, "Well, after the tour I just hung around the island, my dad came and visited... which was nice but I'll be ready to be back in..."
A sudden thunk resonated from nearby, and both students turned their heads."Wha...?" Said Brad, Sam located the culprit. A guy, about their age, who had just run into a beam on one side of the barn aisle. Sam raised an eyebrow, his reaction seemed abnormally intense for such a bump. "Hey, are you alright?" Bradley asked. "You should be more careful. If you keep running into walls, I don't know how you're going to handle a pitch fork."
The boy looked up, but before he got the chance to another student, Owen, leaned over a stall door and spoke kindly. ""Don't listen to Brad, he's probably run into that bar a few times, I know I have."
Sam was sure she'd never seen anyone run into the bar, but following the others lead she nodded. "Are you looking for someone?" She assumed the boy must be new, or possibly a friend of one of the other riders as he didn't seem to really know his way around a barn.
Michael
"I didn't." commented Chelsea, "Chelsea. So..."
"Chelsea. Got it... You kno-"
"You can give me the tour of the Barn, right?" Her eyes flickered toward the barn almost desperatly.
"Uh... Yea.. sure?" But Chelsea was already half-way to the barn. Michael stole a last glance at the students on the bus, then turned to follow the girl. Firecracker that one. He thought, breaking into a jog and catching up to the girl just as she entered the barn.
David
David removed his wallet and phone from his backpack then threw it and the duffle unceremoniously into the jeep. Back at his grandfathers he had a few cherished belongings locked in a trunk under his bed, the guitar his mother had given him, an assortment of old books, the box containing the few pictures he had from each of his moves, but here he had nothing but clothes, an old flip phone, and a wallet containing $23 dollars his now invalid drivers licences and a crumpled photograph of his mother from her time in college.
The guy they'd picked up in Savannah had already bolted towards one of the barns, but the two girls also stood at the jeep, conversing in hushed whispers. A woman rode up on a horse, and spoke to Will. "William! Glad you're giving our new students the welcoming speech. However, I was promised five new students, and I see only three. You aren't holding out on me, are you?" her tone was light, friendly, but Will looked embarrassed.
"Right... I'll find him."
Will left, but the new woman looked them over with eager eyes. "As I'm sure my co-trainer has just finished saying, welcome to Bayely. I'm Julia, but you can call me 'Miss Jewels' or 'Miss Walsh'. I'm the second assistant trainer here, and I'll be overseeing most of your training and activities at Bayley."
Ah, she must be the one who had started this program.
"Orientation is going to be starting soon, so feel free to head that way or mingle with your fellow students. I can give you a tour on the way over if you'd like."
One of the girls, a pretty black girl with a thick accent spoke to the other. "'Tour' sounds good to me, how 'bout you?"
"A tour works." Said David, to no one in particular. "Looks like most of the students are starting to head towards the barn anyway." He smiled, turned to the girls, "I'm David, by the way." The girls looked concerned with the Bayley students, even angered by them, but David had reached the point where it was just amusing. Even taking a tour, with preppy students and million dollar horses staring at the was better than sitting on the bus with an armed guard. If he was going to be bitter about his situation he wasn't going to be so now.

Zooey
"Yeah, I know," I said, all quiet, so only Zooey could hear. "I keep tellin' myself, none o' these little silver spoon babies'd last a day in my life. Prob'ly not yours, neither. I'm Kade'jah.
Zooey smiled, It was definitely going to be better having someone who grew up in a similar situation, if not worse. Unlike some people, Zooey ahd brought her troubles down on herself, who knew, maybe Kade'jah had no choice in the matter. However, she was right, the kids here had no idea how to grow up the way she had. "You know exactly how I feel."
That's when the woman came riding up on her horse, full of smiles and energy. At first Zooey looked at her skeptically, but the more she talked, the more Zooey felt the woman was sincere. Miss Jewels, as she called herself, asked if they wanted a tour and Kade'jah answered quickly enough. Probably thinking the same thing Zooey was. She was about to answer when one of the guys who had been on the bus with them came up behind them.
"A tour works." Said David, to no one in particular. "Looks like most of the students are starting to head towards the barn anyway." He smiled, turned to the girls, "I'm David, by the way."
Zooey nodded her head at Miss Jewels. "Sounds good to me. I think it would be best to know where we're going." Zooey then turned to the new guy, David, and gave him a quick smile. "Zooey." He didn't seem quite as nervous as she felt, either he didn't care, or he was used to this kind of stuff. "So, how does...all of this," She made big sweeping gestures, "sit with you?"

David
David shrugged, "It's better than any of my other options." He walked forward, following Jewels. "I've moved around a lot, so its just another place you know? A new place to find some new friends. To make some new memories, maybe even learn to ride a bit... And if they're all stuck up jerks?" He shrugged again, "Then I'll just stick it out and eventually end up in a new new place... no skin off my back. Guess I'm kind of a vagabond like that though." David laughed, "If they think they can change me with their pretty horses and their tiny little saddles they've got another thing coming but for today at least I might as well enjoy things."

Jewels
"'Tour' sounds good to me, how 'bout you?"
"A tour works."
Sounds good to me. I think it would be best to know where we're going."
"Exelent!" Jewels clapped her hands together to accent the word. "Hunter, lead the way." Leading Hunter with her left arm, Jewels kept the students to the right and slightly behind her. She walked in silence for a few miniutes, allowing the kids to chat, and listening to their conversations. She had already voiced their concerns in her own mind--the wealthy Bayley students would segreagate from the RFH Bayley students. Which was realisticly to be expected. Jewels hoped all the students would form bonds, no matter what their percieved differences.
"Well now, David." Jewels glided into the conversation, "You don't have to worry about the people--It's the horses you gotta keep your eye on. Absolute Divas, every one. Now see, you have to complement 'em real nice or they'll get offended." Jewels eyes sparkled. Hunter took the oppernunity to snort and nodd. "And if you'll all look ahead," Jewels transitioned into her best telemarketers voice, " you'll see the main barn, which houses most of Bayley's horses."
----
Chelsea
After entering the main barn, Chelsea waited several seconds for Michael to chatch up with her. She scuffed one Converse across the straw speckled floor and looked at him out of the corner of one eye, wanting him to go into tour guide mode again so she could clock out. "So..." she prompted, taking a few steps down the barns isle.
Horses nickered, hooves stamped, and student's bickered as they put away their tack. Chelsea thought she saw a barn mouse scamper across the floor. She tried to read the horses name plates, but the letters just swam across her vision. "...do you work here?" she blurted. "You know a lot about the place...and horses." Anything to get Red talking again.

Kasey
"If you keep running into walls, I don't know how you're going to handle a pitch fork."
Pitchfork?! I thought I was here to ride horses, not take care of ‘em!
Kasey looked up to see another guy walk toward him. "Don't listen to Brad, he's probably run into that bar a few times, I know I have." Kasey looked at the guy. He had the face of model and the physique to match. Great. Rich British Jerks and Rich Adonis’s too. He looked back to brad a cussed him out his head. Just the way that gut talked was enough to annoy him.
“Yeah, that’s a real stupid place to put a pole.” Kasey looked out at the main barn and remembered that he was told to stay in the main yard. He looked back at Adonis. “My name is Kasey by the way. You are?”

Michael
Michael entered the barn and looked around. Now where'd she get off to? Oh! The girl had wandered a short ways down the barn and was looking at him with an almost pleading expression.
"So..." she prompted, taking a few steps down the barns isle.
"Right... erm..." He tripped over his words for a moment, a bit flustered. It wasn't that he had a problem talking about Bayley, or talking at all really, but usually he made a point to keep up a conversation where as this girl seemed to just want him to talk and truth be told he was worried that what he was saying wouldn't intrest her.
"Umm.... Well, what were in right now is the main schooling barn or the side barn of the 'Marcus McKinley Equestrian Complex', though no one calls it that, which was built by Ian's father back in 2003.... so it's the newest stable building. There are..." He did a quick count in his head, "I think 21 stalls? 21 stalls in this section, and then if you go across to the arena building there are an additional seven up against one side. There's also a built in living quarters, but no one is in there right now so its usually locked unless theirs a show or something.... Which is pretty much it... really... except a tack room, bathrooms, laundry room, feed room.... State of the art facility... and all that..." He let his voice trail off. Surely he was boring her now. The silence was thick and heavy. Michael looked down at his feet.
"Do you work here?" The girl said suddenly.
Michael blinked in surprise. "Erm... No..."
The girl looked shy, maybe even embarrassed. "You know a lot about the place...and horses."
At this Michael laughed, "No... no not really. I haven't been riding half as long as most people at Bayley." He shrugged, "I'm a student..." He looked down at his green converse, mud stained jeans and wrists laden with a variety of bracelets in all colors and shapes. "... Though I guess I don't really look like one?" Michael approached a stall and scratched its occupant's ears. "I'd never even touched a horse till I was eleven or so... I can ride all right, good enough for the polo team at least, but not enough to keep up with the tweeds.... erm... the Show Jumpers." He shrugged, "My sister, Sam, is the real rider. I kinda just tagged along for the ride you know?" He paused for a moment, hesitating. "What about you Chelsea?" He asked, "What brings you to Bayley?"

Kade'jah:
Zooey gave me this little smile an' said I knew how she felt. I can't tell you why, but somehow that jus' made me feel better. Guess I wasn't made to be no lone wolf. I smiled back at her, kinda quick so she'd see it, then went back to my poker face, lookin' straight ahead. Yeah, I figured we was prob'ly gon' be sistas, but 'Miss Jewels' di'n't need to know. Least, not until I knew how they was plannin' on runnin' this thing, an' if they'd come down on us fo talkin' to each other.
Then one o' the dudes on the bus with us introduced hisself. "Kade'jah," I said after Zooey told him her name. He was all laid back, like all this was jus' anotha day, anotha dolla. Yeah. Maybe I oughta be mo' like that. 'Less the Man decided t' single him out fo thinkin' this place was gonna be easy. Miss Jewels di'n't do nothin' like that though. "You don't have to worry about the people--It's the horses you gotta keep your eye on. Absolute Divas, every one. Now see, you have to complement 'em real nice or they'll get offended."
'Jewels' fit her, the way her eyes an' teeth was all sparkles. But she was watchin' an' listenin'. This place wasn't like Camp Calhoun, where they come straight at us with 'drill sergeants' an' yellin' an' five mile runs fo' lookin' at 'em wrong. Truth is, I di'n't know what they was thinkin', bringin' kids like us--like me--to a place like this. But I promised Ra I was gon' do th' best I could to make it here. That meant I had t' make sho I di'n't end up in the Box--if they had somethin' like the Box here. So I just walked along, not sayin' or showin' nothin'.
Sigismund:
Sigismund had just started to notice that the "troublemaker boy" who remained behind with the others had 'The One Mother Warned You About' written all over him, when a voice called out his name. He spun to the sound.
"Nikki!" The girl was running his way, long dark hair swaying, lemonade spilling. He met her and gave her a quick hug with his free arm. "Great, and getting better!" he said in answer to her question. "I can't wait to show you my new horse! And see Seraph again, of course." His accent was softly German, with hints of British. It was British English he'd learned from his language tutor, not American, and that showed up in his pronunciation. "So, have you seen the new students?" Sigi said, turning back toward the students from the bus, who were now following Fraulein Jewels. The boy made his heart skip a beat, and he guessed, probably had the same effect on Nikki. "Who are they?"

Chelsea & Bradley & Jewels
Michael laughed, "No... no not really. I haven't been riding half as long as most people at Bayley." He shrugged, "I'm a student..." He looked down at his feet. With a jolt, Chelsea realized he was wearing converse, green converse, that almost matched her own double-layred green and black ones. For as long as she could remember, Chelsea had been obsessed with Converse. It had all started when her older sister had taken her to a Converse wearhouse to pick out her first pair--those had been black with red lining, read stitching, and red bottoms. Ever since, no matter how poor her and her mom were, or how many foster homes she had been shuffled around, Chelsea had always managed to have multiple pairs at all times. Sometimes she bought them, but recently she had stolen them. Her current pair, and the ones stashed in her duffel bag, had been purchased for her by the Gabriels. Her only regret were that the shoes were still too new. Being ADD and ADHD, clean neat things bothered Chelsea almost as much as messy things brothered people with OCD. Luckily, her current pair of Converse had a fine layer of dirt on them from when Bradley dropped her bags in the dust.
Chelsea's mind screamed. This was exactly the sort of conversation she had been trying to avoid. Now it was her turn to look down at her own feet and shuffle them. Every instinct was telling her, lie! Make something up! Maybe she could say she was Bradley's cousin, or something. She remembered his words from earlier: Maybe it would be best if everyone else didn't know you were my family's foster girl. No, that wouldn't do. Associating her self with Bradley would be worst than admitting she was a RFH girl. Besides, the lie would be transparent to anyone who knew anything about the Gabriels. And Chelsea...well, she didn't want Michael hating her for the lie. And speaking of Bradley...
A girl about 12 stalls down was saying, "Are you looking for someone?" At first, Chelsea thought she was being addressed, but then she realized that they other girl--a gorgeous dark blonde--was talking to someone else. And Bradley was right next to her.
"Oh no..." Chelsea murmured.
"Well, he certainly found the bar! " Bradley's charismatic voice and gestures gave Chelsea a headache. The pretty blond faced Bradley again, but Chelsea couldn't see her face. "Hey, I mean...He found Owen." Bradley held up his arms as a sign of surrender towards the girl. He had obvious planned that fake cover up to try and be funny. His self-satisfied smirk and mischievous eyes made it clear to Chelsea that he liked the girl. Then again, she had always been good at reading people. Bradley was probably flirty with everyone.
Chelsea realized she had created a very long awkward pause between her and Michael. Not good. She managed to meet his eyes. Another jolt ran through her. He was looking at her with...Chelsea couldn't quite put her finger on the emotion. Concern? Curiosity? Whatever it was, it was like he actual cared.
Another voice interrupted her thoughs. "And if you'll all look ahead you'll see the main barn, which houses most of Bayley's horses." Chelsea looked back out the barn door and saw a pretty African American looking woman leading the rest of the RFH students on what must be a a tour. "This is where you'll be spending most of your time--apart from your studies. Here you'll start of learning horse care and grooming, but then we'll have you up in the saddle in no time!"
Again, Chelsea forced her self to concentrate on her current conversation with Michael. She sighed. She realized that any made up story would dissolve as soon as orientation came. Then she would be introduced to Bayley as a RFH student. And she didn't want to ruin any chance she had of making a friend by lieing to him...people seemed to get upset over that for some reason.
"I'm a RFH student." Chelsea spoke to her feet. A few seconds passed. She realized she hadn't heard a response. She looked up at Michael. "Ride for Hope." she explained. She tried to look nonchalant, but she felt sheepish and a little embarrassed. "So, I guess you think I'm a charity case."

David -- Main Barn South Entrance ---> Arena East Entrance -- Group Includes: Jewels/Zooey/Kade'Jah/David -- David Takes Notice of: Michael/Chelsea/Kasey/Brad/Own & Ian by entrance of Main Barn -- End at Arena East Entrance, moving to bleachers -- David Takes Notice of Will -- Post ends 5-10mins before Orientation
Before Zooey or Kade'Jah could respond, Ms. Jewels addressed him. "Well now, David." She said in an upbeat tone. "You don't have to worry about the people--It's the horses you gotta keep your eye on. Absolute Divas, every one. Now see, you have to complement 'em real nice or they'll get offended."
Jewels turn to smile at him, all sunshine and good intentions. What are we six? "Good to know." He said curtly, fighting the urge to make some sarcastic comment. Jewels turned away, David rolled his eyes. What's she playing at being all cute with us? He thought. The woman had just picked them up from a nasty old school bus with an armed guard. She was kidding herself if she thought that the Bayley students were gonna just welcome them with open arms. The fact itself didn't really bother him. In every school, in every club or organization there was a hierarchy. You had your popular kids, your jocks, your nerds, your loners and your delinquents who didn't usually cross territories and generally hated each other’s guts. And that was fine. It was stupid, sure. And it wasn't impossible to deny these boundaries. But the fact remained that they existed. All animals established a hierarchy in this way. What bothered David was that Jewels seemed to be downplaying that in favor of her own little fantasy land. The horses were the divas. Complement the horses as they pranced around in their tidy collared shirts and their shiny black boots pretending that the entire world was rainbows and good feelings. Sure.
"And if you'll all look ahead," Jewels transitioned into her best telemarketers voice, "...you'll see the main barn, which houses most of Bayley's horses." David shrugged off his cynicism and looked up at the massive barn ahead. He realized now that the bus had come up the back of the property (later, he would discover the reason for this in a roofed bridge to short too allow buses or trailers) masking the enormity of the building in front of them. It appeared that the 'main barn' was actually two. One a more standard looking row of stalls connected by a covered walkway to a deeper building housing the an indoor arena further towards the entrance. The barn the bus had parked by, then, must be a secondary barn, possibly housing the student's horses. Metal letters, printed in a deep rusty red, identified the place as 'The Marcus McKinley Equestrian Complex'. David squinted to read a small wooden plaque beneath. 'In loving memory of Marcus Joseph McKinley, equestrian, husband, father and friend.' David whistled, the plaque should have read 'Marcus McKinley, too much money for his own good.' Jewels stopped a few yards from the entrance of the barn, not entering but standing close. "And if you'll all look ahead you'll see the main barn, which houses most of Bayley's horses." David turned to look. Just inside the entrance, a pretty blonde girl stood next to a stocky boy with fiery red hair. The girl was looking worriedly down the aisle, where four students gathered in front of a stall door. David recognized one as the boy they had picked up in Georgia. He started to call out to the boy, but decided against it. The kid probably didn’t want to be singled out anymore than they did. "This is where you'll be spending most of your time--apart from your studies. Here you'll start of learning horse care and grooming, but then we'll have you up in the saddle in no time!"
Suddenly David was aware of someone watching him and turned to locate the culprit.
The man stood about ten yards to the right of them, near a walkway that appeared to connect the stable building to the indoor arena.
Though he held and English saddle slung over one arm, he looked to David distinctly out of place. For starters, instead of the neat breeches and polo shirts David had seen on Will, Jeweles, and some of the other students this man was wearing a grey v-neck tee, jeans, and cowboy boots. He also lacked the sort of lithe fitness that the others had, having instead broad shoulders and large arms. David was certain he saw the edges of a tattoo peeking out from under his shirt. Their eyes met for several moments, with the man wearing the strangest of expressions on his face.
What the?
Suddenly, a smallish boy of maybe 11 or 12 ran up to the man and the moment was ended. David watched as the guy knelt low to talk to the kid, handed him the saddle, pointed him towards the stable, and patted the kids shoulder in a fatherly way as he ran off.
"Hey, Ms. Jewels. Who is..?" But by now the others had traveled down the side of the larger building.. He caught up to the others just as they reached the entrance to the arena. "Sorry..." He said as he caught them, though meaning it more to Zooey and Kade'Jah than Ms. Jewels. "I thought I saw someone that..." He trailed off. Saw someone that what? That he knew? He'd never seen the man before. "... never mind, doesn't matter."
He looked around, they were in a large open arena now, or at least standing alongside it. A few of the trainers, including Will, were in the ring a top their horses, cantering in circles or talking to students over a fence that separated rider from spectator. Will especially seemed to be getting a lot of attention, and David raised an eyebrow as trio of laughing middle school girls patted his horses nose and then ran back to the bleachers giggling. Other students were filtering in from behind them or from a door opposite. David checked his watch, orientation would be starting any minute. "Erm... I guess we can just sit anywhere?" He said, moving towards the bleachers.
OT: ** This is where I'm crossing the two groups. I'm sorry, I know its a little God-moddy to move things past eachother without allowing interaction but I just can't do 9 all together. I'm gonna go type a Sam & Michael post soooo hold off for a bit if your in that group. XD
Sam & Michael -- Michael and Chelsea overhear the conversation between Brad/Kasey/Owen/Sam -- Chelsea admits to being RFH, Michael is confused because he had forgotten about the program -- Sam overhears Michael and Chelsea and yells at Michael, angry that he left over the summer. -- Ian comes in and addresses the fight as Michael is calming Sam down -- Orientation in 5minutes next door in the arena
Michael immediately regretted asking Chelsea about her whereabouts when he saw a look of utter panic cross her face. She looked down at her feet. "... Chelsea, I didn't..." Suddenly Michael became aware of a conversation happening further up the barn aisle. Sam was standing with her back to them a short ways down the aisle, the ineffable Bradley on her right and the more subdued Owen on her left, leaning out of a stall. They were talking to a agitated looking guy Michael didn't recognize.
"Don't listen to Brad, he's probably run into that bar a few times, I know I have." Owen said kindly. The new guy looked un-amused, even hostile.
"Are you looking for someone?"
At Sam's voice, Chelsea looked up. More panic. Michael thought he heard her whisper under her breathe.
The new guy ignored Sam's question, mumbled. “Yeah, that’s a real stupid place to put a pole..." He paused, scanning them with hostile eyes. "My name is Kasey by the way. You are?”
Same spoke up before Brad or Owen had a chance, "I'm Sam." She said simply, Michael could tell by her town that she was annoyed with the boy. "He's Brad, and this is Owen. We're students here. I'm a junior, they're both seniors." She paused, then repeated her earlier question. "Can we help you find anything? New students are not really supposed to be in the main barn..."
Suddenly Brad raised his arms in some grandiose gesture. "Well, he certainly found the bar!" Upon recieving blank stares from his companions, Brad recovered. "Hey, I mean...He found Owen." Michael rolled his eyes, he and Bradly got along alright when they happened to cross paths. But in truth the guy irritated him. It was only made worse by the fact that the guy was obviously interested in Sam, and worse still by the fact that Sam was interested in him. He looked back at Chelsea, whose eyes were strangely fixed on Brad. Does she know him? He thought.
"And if you'll all look ahead you'll see the main barn, which houses most of Bayley's horses..." Jewels's ever sunny voice broke the awkward silence and both he and Chelsea turned towards it. "This is where you'll be spending most of your time--apart from your studies. Here you'll start of learning horse care and grooming, but then we'll have you up in the saddle in no time!"
The kid's from the bus? Now Michael was really confused. They're students?
He looked back at Chelsea who was looking intently down at her feet. "I'm a RFH student."
Michael paused for a second, wracking his brain and trying to place the acronym. "... erm... what?"
"Ride for Hope." she explained. She tried to look nonchalant, but she looked a little embarrassed. "So, I guess you think I'm a charity case."
It took Michael a moment to process what Chelsea had just said, then a light-bulb seemed to go off in his head. "Oh! That thing Will kept going on about last year!" He laughed, "Bimey, I completely forgot about that... with Jessa and everything..." He thought for a moment. When he'd last thought about it, the program was more of an idea than any sort of reality. It was Ian's project, something to honor his father after he had died. "I thought they were gonna call it 'The Marcus Project' or something... Ride for Hope is loads better.... bet Ms. Bayley came up with that one I wonder if.." He stopped suddenly.
You idiot. No wonder she's so embarrassed!
He laid his head in his hands, trying not to laugh. "Oh God Chelsea, no... I'm sorry. I just... Well now it makes sense!" He looked back up at her, breathed deeply and spoke gently. "I don't think your a charity case... I mean I suppose you are in a way, but I'm glad your here, really. Please don't be embarrassed. I'm sorry, I completely forgot about the program. They didn't talk about it much, and I was such a mess last year... and then I went to Spain and..."
"Michael!"
Michael looked over his shoulder and saw that Sam had turned away from her conversation and was running towards him. "Hey Beautiful!" He called out to her, holding out his arms. "I've missed you something terrible this... UMPH!" Sam struck him hard across the face. "Sh** Woman I'm having a conversation!" Michael yelled, turning from Chelsea. Sam hit him hard in the arm. "Oww! C'mon Sam I--"
"You idiot!" She yelled, struggling for control. "Run off to Spain for two months! Don't tell anyone where your going! Do you have any idea how much I worried about you Michael?!"
He caught her wrists in his own hands and held them fast, "I know. I know. I'm sorry."
"You stupid. You irresponsible id--"
"Shhh Shhh. It's ok. I know. I know I'm an idiot. And irresponsible. And stupid. And everything else. Ok?" He spoke softly and held her gaze. His heart dropped as he noticed tears in the corners of her eyes. Michael brought her hands, still held tightly in his, up to his face. Gently kissed her clenched fists. "I'm sorry. It was stupid and I will never run off to a foreign country without telling you again? Ok?" She was furious, but had regained control of herself. There you go sis. Breathe deep. Michael smiled, "God I missed you Sam."
"Hey!" A deep, booming voice rang out. Its owner stood in the doorway, n tall and slightly imposing man in cowboy boots carrying a number of halters and leads on one arm. "What the heck are you two squawking about?"
"It's alright Ian." Michael said, eyes still on the wild-eyed girl in front of him, hands still clutching her wrists. "Sam was just telling me how much she missed me. Weren't you Sam?" The girl breathed deeply, composing herself though she was still shaking slightly. Michael dropped her wrists and pulled her into an unwilling hug.
"I'm still mad at you." She said sharply, but she was already sinking into his embrace. He squeezed her tight, then released her.
Pretty much everyone in the barn was looking at them. Oops. Michael turned to the boys on the opposite end of the barn who were looking at him with expressions that ranged from amused to disgusted. He waved, "Owen, Bradley, lovely to see you again!" but then turned back to those closest to him. Sam, Ian, and Chelsea.
"So how was Spain?" Ian asked dryly, hanging the halters on one hook and removing a black Stetson from the other.
"Wonderful."
"Make good choices?"
"Not at all..." Michael smiled sheepishly, but his eyes betrayed a sort of deviant pride. "Both I and Alex made it back in one piece though. I would call that an accomplishment."
The older man shook his head, "What the heck am I supposed to do with you Michael?" He put the hat on his head and checked his watch. Then looked around at the others, "Ya'll finish up in here. We'll be starting orientation in about five minutes."
"Yes sir." Said Michael. A few others joined him. Ian stepped out and Michael turned to the two girls. "Sam, I'd like you to meet my new friend Chelsea, Chelsea this is my sister Sam." He looked at Sam, "You should probably apologize as well. I wager you scared poor Chelsea here half to death with that little display!"
Sam shot Michael a venomous glare, but had forced a smile by the time she turned to Chelsea. "He really is an idiot."
Michael nodded, "I really am."
Sam gave a sort of exhausted laugh, the hint of a true smile playing on her lips. "It was nice meeting you Chelsea..." She said quickly, then began moving back towards Brad and Owen. "I promise its not usually this crazy around the barns."
"No." Said Michael, turning back to Chelsea and lowering his voice, "It's usually much worse." He smiled apologetically, "I'm sorry. Where were we?"
OT: Whew! So, I'm imagining that a certain level of loving banter is pretty commonplace between Sam and Michael sooo while the intensity of the fight would have been abnormal. Sam's getting angry with him, and Michael's responses all would have been within the realm of typical. What would *not* have been typical was Sam being on the verge of losing control (nearly crying when Michael had her wrists) and she wouldn't have wanted anyone to see her legitimately upset, especially Brad. Michael knows this and was trying to calm her down, plus he loves her and they're an adorable brother/sister pair... at least I think XD. Sorry for taking up so much space. Carry on however!

Nikki
“Them? They are the Ride for Hope students. Apparently, they all come from troubled pasts. Rumour has it that one of them is a murderer but that can’t be right. They wouldn’t let a killer here in Bayley. One of them is hotter than heck. And the other guy has this mysterious aura around him. If any of them was a killer it’d be him.” She looked at Sigi and hugged him again. “It really is great to see you again.” She glanced over at where the girls were they were all making smoochy faces at her and Sigismund. Immature Bitc*** . She rolled her eyes and walked towards the main barn. Orientation would be starting soon. “So you got a new horse? What’s her name? Assuming it’s a female.”
Kasey
‘Brad’ as Kasey learned his name started to get annoying. He wanted nothing more than to go punch him. But instead some British girl slapped some red head hard. Kasey grinned. It was refreshing to see someone with attitude in this place. She continued to get mad until she started crying. Then Kasey frowned. Well, so much for someone with backbone.
“So your name is Owen? That’s the same name as one of my best friend’s boyfriend back home in Savannah. Nice guy, He was a ‘tattle tale’ though. We couldn’t get away with crap.”

Owen
Owen smiled when the new kids said that it was a stupid place to put a pole. In all honesty Owen had never run into it, but this kid seemed out of place and lost. It wasn't his job to make this kid feel inferior.
“My name is Kasey by the way. You are?”
Same spoke up before Brad or Owen had a chance, "I'm Sam." She said simply "He's Brad, and this is Owen. We're students here. I'm a junior, they're both seniors." She paused, then repeated her earlier question. "Can we help you find anything? New students are not really supposed to be in the main barn..."
Owen nodded, "It's nice to meet you Kasey." He felt a little sorry for the guy, Sam seemed annoyed with him. He was in the wrong spot, but maybe he had just become lost.
“So your name is Owen? That’s the same name as one of my best friend’s boyfriend back home in Savannah. Nice guy, He was a ‘tattle tale’ though. We couldn’t get away with crap.”
Owen raised an eyebrow at the guy. "Well I wouldn't consider myself a "tattle tale." I would say I'm pretty laid back, but I wouldn't do anything to get into trouble here. Who knows what they would do." That's when Ian announced that orientation started in 5 minutes. Owen looked toward Kasey.
"Why don't I show you to the arena. Like Ian said, orientation starts soon. You really don't want to miss that."
Zooey
Zooey followed behind Miss Jewels, not really listening, but taking in everything that she saw on their tour. As they walked through the barn David became distracted by something and fell behind. Zooey started a little when he came running back up behind them. She had been too distracted by everything going on around them to realize he had been left behind. When they walked into the arena she saw Will and more rich students. Zooey followed David to the bleachers and took a seat, watching, wide-eyed, as people began to make their way into the arena. Though there were only 30 students at Bayley, Zooey felt like there were ten times more. She had to keep reminding herself that everything was going to be alright, this was her new beginning. She held her hands together trying to stop the shaking, she wasn't sure if it was from nerves or from withdrawal, probably both. It always seemed to get worse when she was nervous.
OT: I will post for Arabella....probably tomorrow.

Chelsea
"Oh! That thing Will kept going on about last year!" Michael laughed. Chelsea felt like he had just punched her in the stomach. "Bimey, I completely forgot about that... with Jessa and everything..." He thought for a moment. Chelsea thought about turning on her heal and leaving. If he was going to laugh at her then..."I thought they were gonna call it 'The Marcus Project' or something... Ride for Hope is loads better.... bet Ms. Bayley came up with that one I wonder if.." He stopped suddenly.
He laid his head in his hands, and after a beat a change came over him. "Oh God Chelsea, no... I'm sorry. I just... Well now it makes sense!" What make sense? Chelsea felt dread growing in her gut. He looked back up at her, breathed deeply and spoke gently. "I don't think your a charity case... I mean I suppose you are in a way..." He was saying more but she could only see his lips moving. The blood pounding in her ears drowned all else out. She clenched her fists at her sides. Normally she wasn't one for venting with violence but...
But someone else got to it first. "Michael!"
Michael looked over his shoulder. "Hey Beautiful!" He called out holding out his arms. "I've missed you something terrible this... UMPH!" The pretty blond girl who had been with Bradley slapped Michael hard across the face. "Sh** Woman I'm having a conversation!" Michael yelled, turning from Chelsea. The blond girl continued beating ever inch of the red head she could reach. "Oww! C'mon Sam I--"
Chelsea actually stepped back surprised, and having no desire to be hit herself. Who was Sam? Her interaction with Michael suggested the two of them were dating, but then what had all that flirtyness with Bradley been about?
Hey!" A deep, booming voice rang out.
Chelsea was gaping, and soon realized she wasn't the only one. The barn was quiet. Michael waved, "Owen, Bradley, lovely to see you again!" but then turned back to those closest to him.
"Yes sir." Said Michael and turned to the two girls. "Sam, I'd like you to meet my new friend Chelsea..."
"Huh?" said Chelsea. A minute ago he had just called her a charity case...
"Chelsea this is my sister Sam."
"Oh. Ohhhh." The sister relationship made sense, except the two looked nothing alike.
He looked at Sam, "You should probably apologize as well. I wager you scared poor Chelsea here half to death with that little display!" Aside from the 'poor Chelsea' part, he got it about right. Accept she was more surprised than anything.
"Drama." Chelsea commented, saying the word as if she would like nothing more than to run from it, screaming.
"He really is an idiot." Sam said, with what seemed to Chelsea a forced smile on her face.
Michael nodded, "I really am."
Sam gave a sort of exhausted laugh. "It was nice meeting you Chelsea..." She said quickly, then began moving back towards Brad and Owen. "I promise its not usually this crazy around the barns."
"No." Said Michael, turning back to Chelsea and lowering his voice, "It's usually much worse." Chelsea snickered. Ok, that was funny. And true. Chelsea decide to call it the 'Drama Barn' in her own mind. She'd gone from nervous to embarrassed to scared to angry to confused in a matter of minutes. Actually, it was Sam's dramatic entrance that had saved Michael and kept Chelsea from walking away from him. But after Sam's little display...Chelsea got the feeling that Michael had a habit of unwillingly insulting girls.
He smiled apologetically, "I'm sorry. Where were we?"
"Going to orientation." Chelsea pointed out, then added as an after thought, "Before anyone yells at us--or, you, specifically."
----
Bradley
Sam walked back toward him with a variety of expressions on her face. Tears, for one, confusion, and maybe even a little relief. Her cheeks were rosy from her angry excursion, but Bradley thought that was cute. "Remind me to never make you angry." A joke to break the tension. Still, there were tears on her face. Bradley took a beat, then said sympathetically, "You really missed him, huh?" Bradley hung Lady's bridle up for her, then began to guide them toward Orientation.

Sam
"Remind me to never make you angry."
Sam froze at the comment, mortified. After that display Brad probably thought she was complelty mad. In fact, half the barn probably thought she was a nutter. Bradley, Ian, Owen, Chelsea... The new boy, what had he said his name was? Kasey. All of them had witnessed her making a complete fool of herself. Sam fixed her eyes on the floor and quickly wiped away the few stray tears that lingered near her eyes. Mercifully, Bradley had turned away to hang Lady's bridle on a hook.
"You really missed him, huh?" He said softly, moving towards the other barn.
Sam sighed, she might as well offer an explanation at this point. "I just worry. I worry so much and he knows that." She looked ahead as they entered the arena, surveying the students already in the bleachers and avoiding Bradley's gaze. "You know how Michael is, he just doesn't think. He was such a wreck at the end of last year, and yes it was probably beter that he didn't come on the tour with us but to just run off randomly to Spain? With nothing but a note written on a napkin? I mean really? We had no idea where he was for nearly six weeks. Dad wanted to go find him but my step-mom wouldn't let him. Nothing but a couple of post cards. It's just.... Ugh!" Sam shook her head and followed Bradley to a seat about halfway up the bleachers near a few more familar students. "I know he was with Alex, but really that's not exactly reassuring. For all I know he could have been dead. I'd spend so much time just imagening these horrible scenarios, then my parents would here from them and it would be better but then it would be weeks before we heard from him again." She sighed but despite her distressed tone she was calmer now. Ian, who had been talking to Will was now facing he students. Compared to the other trainers, all in neat riding breeches and crisp polo shirts, Ian looked almost shabby but as always he walked with a sort of assurance and confidence that spoke to the fact that he was running the show and commanded respect. Soon he woul start the orintation but for now he seemed to be waiting for the last of the students to find their seats. She turned back to Brad, "I suppose there's no point in worrying about it now though, since he made it back in one piece."
David
David sat down next too Zooey and Kade'Jah, wondering where the other guy from the bus had gotten off too. He got his answer a few moments later as a loose group of six made their way into the arena. The RFH student was at the back of the group, walking next to a Bayley student. Both of them looked somewhat uncomfortable with eachother so David waved as the guy entered the barn. He wasn't sure if the kid had seen him, but maybe he'd at least like to sit with his own kind. Maybe.
He knew there was another RFH student somewhere in the crowd, but at the moment he cuoldn't guess who it was. Though all the student's seemed well dressed, not all were in riding attire a few others lingered on the edge of groups. A blonde girl with pink streaks in her hair might be her, but she was talking to Will as if she knew him so that was probably out. Severa rows back and a few rows up, two students spoke to eachother in quick spanish. Maybe the tall one who seemed to be telling some sort of crazy story to the other?
Suddenly something hard bumped against his shoulder and David looked up. A guy with messy ginger was moving into the row behind them. What had hit David's shoulder appeared to be cans tucked in the pockets of his sweatshirt. The hadn't seemed to notice that he had hit David in was instad focused on a all blonde girl who walked behind him looking concerned. He spoke to the girl in a thick brittish accent. Seriously, are we the only Americans here?
He turned away from thre red-head and focused back in on the arena. The guy from earlier had appeared and now stood in front of the other trainers. David noticed now that the main walked with a strange gait, as if he had been injured, but what he lacked in grace or apperance he made up for in presence. Now the edges of whatever tattoo David had seen earlier were hidden beneath the mans sleeve, but now David noticed a chain around the man's neck with two rectangles hanging fom it. Dog-Tags.
Great. A drill sargent. He noticed suddenly that the girl next to him was shaking. "You alright?"
Michael
Michael smiled, "Don't worry, I'm not positive but I don't think I've ticked anyone else off." They entered the arena, and Michael scanned the rows for seats. Sam was heading to the far side of the bleachers so he decided to move up the closer stair. He started to move up twoards Alex (who was enthusiaticaly telling a story to Victor, Michael was sure he heard his name) but thought better of it when he saw Jessa sitting near the ailse in the row in front of the two guys. He turned quickly, bumping a brown haired guy in front of him. "Sorry!" He said, but the guy didn't seem to hear. "Does this work?" He said to Chelsea, sitting down.
OT: I'll post with Ian after class
